How about a camera built into your googles....

    http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/02/l...-ahead-of-ces/

Liquid Image has just announced new camera-equipped ski masks, swimming goggles and scuba masks, just in time for them to be unveiled at CES 2010. The Summit Series Snow Camera Goggle 335 boasts a 5MP still camera capable of shooting D1 720 x 480 resolution video at 30 frames per second with audio. It's got 16MB of built-in flash memory, expandable to 16GB via its microSD / SDHC slot. Other features include large buttons on the side of the goggles which are easy to press while wearing gloves and and a light inside the goggles which indicates when recording. The goggles are estimated to get about 2,200 still images or over 2 hours of video per charge on their lithium ion battery. Liquid Image expects to ship the Summit Series goggles in the summer of 2010, with a price of $149. Full press release is after the break

Sounds pretty cool. I wonder how wide the lens will be.

    $149 bucks???

IF it had nice images, I would pay twice that to not have to go out looking like I was strapped into the matrix.

hopefully they are smart and are using a GRR or GS cmos imager. if not the footy will look like garbage anyways with a rolling shutter. there are also plenty of imagers that run 60fps @ 720p these days, so i am not too thrilled by the upfront stats that they are listing for the camera. especially with a release date of summer '10, the camera will be even more antiquated by then.

Yeah its just 480p, which is disappointing. The VholdR guys are on top of their game, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a collaboration between them and Smith (they have Smith I/O's on their packaging). At this point its got to have 1080p and 720p60fps for me to even consider it.

They announced a 1080 HD version... Not a big fan of their styling though.

Not sure why they chose to do the nose shroud on the ski series... maybe they are all gingers?

I've been waiting for a design like this to come along, in 09 a company was testing a design like this in motocross goggles, pretty sure they we're called Cyclops Cameras. There idea was to sell you a lens with the camera mounted in it to fit existing goggles you already own.
