Little SLC philanthropy...Drive for Hats,Socks, Gloves for needy kids!

    Heres the deal...

My 8 year-old nephew came up to his dad last Wed with the idea of gathering 100 pairs of mittens/gloves, 100 pairs of winter socks, and 100 warm hats for local area kids who don't have the resources to get them readily.

Not withstanding that he's an 8-year old with a heart, what forsight and generosity this kid has to start this up. Last night I watched him trying to create a flyer on the computer to distribute in his South Jordan neighborhood to solicit this endeavor.

He wants to give the proceeds to a homeless women and children shelter in the area..forgive me for not knowing exactly what one.

I for one am kicking in 30-bucks for his cause....

I guess I see next weekends party at frizzo's a prime chance for us as a community to help out in a small way.

If any who attends this function could bring a new pair of kids warm socks, mittens/gloves, or a warm winter hat it would be a very cool gesture. Not only would it give my nephew (who'm if this goes over at the party, will subject to the maggot/minion scrutiny...he's a damn good and considerate kid) a boost in the confidence of who surrounds him, but just an overall great gesture to our township and area.

    Page 2 bump.

The Mrs had a good thought on this, pool the money and have an unemployed guy (not naming names, too many ) to go out to thrift shops and really make the moeny go far.

This sounds like a good idea but might be easier to give the kid the money and let him go to thrift stores for said shopping. I am hoping I survive my 5 soon to be 6 year olds birthday party Saturday so i can make it over for some fish and beer. I also need to meet Buzz in a setting other than the airport. With that said I hope the Broncos kick the holy living shit out of the raiders today!!

Better yet!! Help him learn to budget too, and maybe haggle the prices down based on quantity.

I hope you can make it too. That was kinda crazy meeting you for the first time in the SLC airport.

So last season my friends from PA come in (every year) and I was waiting to pick em up at SLC airport and then immeditately head to their favorite Pub, the Desert Edge.

So I am standing there in my well worn, well known in TGR Board pics of my green TGR Hoodie. I am sipping a hot cup of coffee and I hear someone say "Buzz?". I turn around and see Skibe, also picking up friends to show em the goods in Utah. We had a very breif "hello" and then our friends showed up and the game was on.

Skibe, hope to see ya there!

Looks like we'll take up a donation at the party on Sat.

One of the local dollar stores was advertising socks and mittens for $1. FYI.

    Collection sounds good.
