    Talking Your biggest gear steal?

So, I'm trolling on eBay a few weeks back and I see a post for "Rossignol Cut Skis" and I decide to click on it, on the off chance that they are 11.5's. So I click and sure enough, 11.5's in the pictures, with Sallie 900s bindings. The post has measurements in inches for the length, tip, waist, and tail. The length measurement is right between the 188 and 193 length, so I'm not sure which they are. As the skis appear to be in good condition, I place a max bid of $50. A day or so later, I get the e-mail that I have won, with a final price $36. I pay a few extra buck for shipping, and I have a pair of 11.5's with Sallies with less than a weeks use. My boots fit without a remount, and I'm stoked on my new rockers...And for the final touche...they are 193's.

So now that you've wasted a minute reading my little story, I gotta believe someone else has been blessed by Ullr in like fashion and scored the killer deal on gear online, at a swap, or hiding in the shops backroom. So who's gonna trump me?

You, sir, got a fucking steal. Well done. I don't hang on ebay, though so that won't happen here.

I am psyched to rock the bro model this year, however.

Pair of Oakley goggles I found in the parking lot of a certain Eastern ski area not well known for it's grooming.

Yeah, I know it sounds suspicious, but he did have a pair of POS female Kastle skis in auction as well, and has sold over 600 items...

I think (hope) it was just a case of someone who should have set a reserve or advertised the gear more accurately...If there is actually bad Karma on the skis, then I'll probably blow out the dualtec sidewall on the first run...

Just before I moved to Tremblant I snagged a pair of Salomon Crossmax 10's 190cm.

Well the skis showed up without the bindings. I called the company that I bought the skis from and they said the skis came with no bindings. Alarms went off in my head.

Mainly because when I paid a visit to Tremblant in August to find an apt before the move I heard that a container shipment of Salomon skis was stolen in Montreal. But they didn't steal the container next to it with the pilot bindings for the skis.

So I called Salomon and explained the situation. I gave them the skis serial number, and sure enough it was part of the batch that was stolen. So I gave Salomon all the info on the purchase. Then I asked for the addy to send the skis to them. Skiing on stolen stix is bad karma. Salomon told me to keep the skis, they sent me the bindings, and some sweet swag.

The info helped them bust the people that stole the skis. They got them so quick that the thieves didn't have the chance to get my money from the paypal account. 45 days later I got the credit back for what I paid for the skis.

...they are like a 7-year old pair of skis (97-98 season?) after all, albeit a nice pair of seven year old skis...

While there are many super price deals I got... I think my best was V-Pro 180cm /w Look P12s for $250 and they had hardly been skied. Motivated seller in copper.

Otherwise... it looks like the US Army Winter Shell GoreTex XCR $29 looks new... too bad its 4 color forest patern.

Got a free pair of garmont gara tele boots that a customer abandoned at the shop I worked at. He used 'em once. That was a pretty good deal.
