One pair of skis for ski travel?

So, I've been working in Shanghai for almost a year now and I've been completely deprived of skiing. I plan on taking ski trips to various parts of the world starting in January (US, Canada, Japan) and maybe NZ in the summer.

If I knew I was going to be skiing pow every day, I'd grab my 195 Praxis Pows and call it a day; however, I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen. My other pairs are 193 monster 103 rock skis and 193 titan pros, which I don't think are versatile enough.

Please Help me decide on a versatile ski, >190cm, >105mm waist, not twin tip.

So far I'm thinking along the lines of:
    Lotus 120
    Dynastar XXL
    Movement Goliath
    Praxis BC

Preferably skis I can get deals on, either used or new - thoughts?

    Thanks.

line motherships. stiff as can be, go fast burly ski, heavy though if your touring....

how about a lhasa, i hear they're divine, and are very versatile despite size.

195 mothership-111 underfoot - can be found very cheap, or they could be found cheap in the spring, but last years and this years are exactly the same so look for last years.

196 PM lhasa, 112mm underfoot- expensive, but as good as they come.
Do I detect a lot of anger flowing around this place? Kind of like a pubescent volatility, some angst, a lot of I'm-sixteen-and-angry-at-my-father syndrome?

    fuck that noise.

    196 Lhasa Pow, 189 Obsethed (measures like 193), 190 Lotus 120, 195 S7, 191 Jimi 110, an 190 Czar.

All would be great choices for softer snow skis, that do really well in all conditions.

    Movement Goliath 191

Do a search and you'll see nothing but rave reviews (well except Wren but I think he should just look down the fall line and not watch the tips) everyone that owns them loves them. Huge versatility in a lightish weight and bomber construction.

Added bonus is Movement's warranty is good around the world no matter what country you buy them in.

$615 for last years model while the limited few pair last.

Katana's in a 190 are my go-to. For a lark I brought them out on an icey, 1200 vert mountain last year and had a blast railing turns on them. Besides, what says durability like a Kata.... nevermind. But I do love them, have had zero durability issues, and find them fun on all types of snow pack and vert.

Not sure if your going to be touring or if this is for resort hopping....might make a difference on your recommendations.

2nd on the 191 Movement Goliath - dope ski. Crushes it. If you can find it this is the one you want.
Katana is not a bad budget choice, I loved mine.
XXL - yes, yes and yes.
191 Salomon Shogun might be worth a look - 101mm- slight rocker up front, nice pop.
I know you said no twin, but the old faithful 190 Gotama (prior to this years redesign) is always a safe bet and can be picked up cheap.
192 Moment Garbones if your looking for a charger.
192 Big bros but good luck on the cheap part here.

This has been said before: If you're getting ready to invest your vacation time and thousands of dollars in a ski trip, why would you take only one pair of skis?

Additional justification: more is better, they break easily, conditions vary, etc.

183 Bros. Great all around ski, the euro version is tough as hell. I am sure the new US version is damn good as well. It is light, stiff and versatile. Mounted with Barrons (or Dukes) it makes a good BC ski as well.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

195 S7, JJ, or Billy Goat, that shape is the most versatile I've skied

190 Moment ruby or bibby pro?

I didn't really like the movement goliath (felt like the tips were just way too soft, especially compared to the rest of the ski), but other people seem to love them. They could be good too.

Deal on a set of lotus 120s fell though - bought a pair of last year's Goliaths. Thanks for the suggestions.

Because when you haven't skiied in a year and aren't skiing regularly you only need one pair to hang out in the lodge?

Who says I'll actually be skiing? The skis are a facade!

Now that it's been mentioned, considering bringing the Praxis along too.

If you have to plan your ski trips in advance, go to different places, so can't be certain of conditions or even terrain, best bet is to go with a ski that will fit statistically average conditions. That ain't going to be a foot of light fresh in big bowls each am. IMO, the answer is something that can handle rough, hard, or old snow, be quick in trees or chutes if that's where you end up, but still be decent in open pow. Of your list, the XXL's are clearly the closest. But I'd give thought to something more like a 183/188 Bros, Goats, Kastle MX98 (if you have the $$), LP (if you don't). They may not rule the odd day it dumps, but they'll be OK, and they'll be a lot more enjoyable the 80% of the time when it dumped three days ago and you're having to search out good snow.

Because most airlines are now charging a significant premium for the second checked bag. I can get one big pair of skis and everything I need for most trips, into a roller and keep it under 50lbs. Adding another pair and it would be tough. You can demo decent skis most places if you have too.
