    Thumbs up

Great day today. We waited around for the pass to open - 12:50pm. Great snow (10"-20" with waist deep and face shots in the trees), nice weather, a little wind. tomorrow should be good for sure, especially for almost May. It stayed pretty cold so there should be some soft around. Also there was nothing moving that I saw. Stay away from the sunny aspects. I would go back tomorrow if i wasn't working....

It was ridiculously good up there today - for anytime of the year, but esp for end of April. In the last 5 years or so now, I've had killer pow on BP on 4/25 twice and now 4/24. Becoming an almost sure thing. I didn't have my camera, but 3 others in the group did, so hopefully some pics to come.

Legitimate 2+ feet. Bummer the pass didn't open sooner, as by the time it was open, the sun was out fully and making things mashy on solar aspects even shadier and north aspects showing affects of the warm temps and sun by end of the day. A good crust on all solar and lower elevation aspects by 7pm. Not sure of the forecast tomorrow, but if it warms up significantly more than today, definitely beware of slide activity - that's a big new load once it gets really wet.

Lots of loading up high, even after the snow stopped, the wind was howling. If you can find safe alpine lines, particularly north facing, I'd imagine good turns to be found yet tomorrow.
    I french kissed Kelly Kapowski.

Today was fun. Kind of funky snow in spots, but DEEP in others. It was definitely getting heavier as we left around 2:00, but still plenty soft to enjoy.
Decent amount of sluff as well, but no big movements, whoomphing, or cracking. Everything that we skied was really stable, but with the coming heat that could all change really fast. There are also now some tracks down a certain tripple rock drop, wonder how those got there. Good to finally get that checked off the list this year.

I'll second the variable, but deep, conditions today. Movement was limited to a couple larger loose snow sloughs that decide to run aways; nothing slabby. Made it up well above tree line for a couple of shots - suprisingly good considering the wind. I think I got a ice pellet facial though.

    Lost rope

Lost a 23M Green Rope in a Blue Nylon ropebag heading out to Robert Creek Sunday (5.2.10) at Berthoud Pass Area.

Fell off my pack traversing between Colorado mines saddle and Mt. flora. Ended up making 2 Vortex (in Mines 1) laps but no luck in finding it :banghead: . I saw 2 groups in that location me during those 2 laps. Hopefully, maybe they picked it up and would be kind enough to return.

In any case, please let me know if someone does manage to come it thanks.

Last time I was up there was Monday. It was pretty variable at that point with everything from creamy pow to a nasty punchable crust. It got really warm on tuesday so I stopped skiing up there after that. It's snowed off and on all day here at the base of the resort so I'd imagine the pass is picking something up.

If you go up there, I'd plan to go high if the weather provides. Hope it works out.
