American's are really stupid if they believe this
Unbelievable...
They actually say this REDUCES the defecit. On what planet? It costs $800+ Billion. Who's defecit will be cut? Not the tax payers. We'll pay $800+Billion through the nose.
Only covers 1/2 the uninsured. Quite a solution. How much will the other 1/2 cost?
Most peoples premiums will INCREASE. Wait, I thought healthcare would be free?
11 Million more people into Medicaid = Huge UNFUNDED mandate to states.
Say hello to permanent double digit unemployment and reduced standard of living.
Left = Marxist = Evil. How else can you say it?

Seriously, how can we take you seriously when you use apostrophes like a short-bus-riding fourth grader?
Do you know what a projected "deficit" is? It is not the same as projected "debt."
Whether the statement by the CBO is true or not depends on what you are comparing the projected cost of the plan against. For example, if you were comparing the projected deficit resulting from a plan to send all sick people to the moon for anti-gravity treatments to that in the current bill, the current bill would represent a reduction in the proposed deficit.
I don't think anyone really minds if you make reasoned arguments after making sure you understand all the big words in the articles you post, even when your reader does not agree with your considered point of view, but merely posting an article with emoticons and knee-jerk-John-Birch-Ayn-Rand slogans does not form the basis of an interesting discussion. Just FYI.

the $800 billion is over ten years, not one. and it will help reduce the deficit because there will be less waste (think savings) over time.
if we don't spend now (the deficit is already huge) we will just spend much more later. the economy isn't going to fix itself and the private sector can't/won't do it. health care is 1/6 of our economy. it could help put us on the road to recovery. can't hurt to try. you don't have any better ideas.
chuck "snake in the" grassley: "Most Americans with health insurance will see their premiums increase." that's already the status quo! if we don't pass a bill my insurance will still go up. i'm willing to try something new.

On this one...if they can find the $400 billion+ in savings. This is just like Obama's original budget. The deficit will only be $x.xx trillion if the economy grows at ~3.4% this year and continues that growth rate over the next ten years.
All the CBO has said is that if all the savings(cuts) in existing programs plus the tax increases generate the expected income and if the costs of the program are what they are expected to be, then it will reduce the deficit by $81 billion over the next ten years.
There is no reason to doubt the CBO report(unless you want to consider the fact that Obama had a private meeting with Elmendorf after the last CBO report on the proposed health care legislation then suddenly this one comes out looking better. but, hey, I'm sure everything is above board with this administration, no reason to think anything untoward has taken place, right?). The skepticism should be directed at the lawmakers ability and will to make the cuts necessary and the tolerance of the American people for the tax increases(something they were promised wouldn't happen). There is also the fact that no budget ever survives the next congress. But that is a problem that is inherent in any multi year budget projections.it's all young and fun and skiing and then one day you login and it's relationship advice, gomer glacier tours and geezers.
