i thought this might be a good place to dump a few rock and grass pics from today on loveland pass
the wind was from the east so the storm didn't add much to the "base" which was 2-6 inches of partially melted & re-frozen wind crust. the rock skis served their purpose...
lil' sis:
we parked at pass lake, climbed to the ridge and skied a firm first run off the cornice - for about 20 turns. second run we found this gnarly couloir:
the trick is to ski between the grass and rocks
saw some easy fracturing out there in protected areas, hollow crusty snow on top of older ice crust. damn the thin colorado snowpack!o--/\

yep, what a fun day BROTHER!
However, when we shift our awareness or "frequency" from self-consciousness -- where fear, impossibility or feelings of separation reside -- to cosmic consciousness, which is in total harmony with the universe and where none of those feelings exist, then anything is possible.

just put some more spice on the meat when it stinks, troll meat is a poor quality best used for hog fuel.

The OP does have a point. Yeah, it is awesome to get those early season turns, but I would much rather have a ski area open later and stay open later. Big Sky and Bridger are always closing when the conditions are the best it seems.

Get your turns where you can. They're your skis, and your core shots, who gives a ----?

i have a feeling there will be more than just snow on grass and rocks based on the numbers in the PNW... just saw Samthaman's post about baker from yesterday... holy wow.
regardless though skiing on grass and rocks is probably one of the best things you can do for your skiing. if one can ski fluidly and effectively over crap you can really shred when you get on good snow."Whenever I get a massage, I ALWAYS request a dude." -lionelhutz

sadly, i drove to the wood thinking there would be a bit more. monte's looked like there was maybe 3 inches on it, but it would have been a muddy walk up there. spent the day taking some fall pics, walking around the new 'lectricity hut, and trying to find where they hid the cats in the boxes.
sorry hugh.

To all the trolls. If you really want something to stop, you don't point it out. this will single-handedly double the early season TRs. Or, is that what you really wanted to happen? hmmmm.
