Larry's boot fit in Boulder
how's Larry's prices compared to Christy's or CO Ski/golf, for somebody who could maybe luck out and get along without much fitting?

the same/better pricing. and a better place to buy.

From personal experience, I would pay twice the cost to have Larry's service, attitude and experience, not to mention the end result.

Be sure to tell him you had to ask if he was worth it over Christy's or CO ski and golf.
And bring them food, not beer.

Yeha no comparison. Larry has been doing this for years, i would pay extra and buy the boots there, then goto christy's and have some hack fit you wrong.

Like they said, no comparison. I have a pair of footbeds made for me by larry when he was still at Boulder Ski Deals 8-9? years ago that have been in 3 different pairs of boots. When I went to one of the better bootfitters here in Aspen a few years back for new boots he said the footbeds were still perfect for my feet and I wouldn't need new ones unless the ones I have fell apart.

Have over 200+ days in my Larry-rigged custom liner and footbeds. They are still holding up, but the Solly boots are toast. If you ski hard and value your feet, pay whatever Larry wants, it's a small price to pay.

i myself know Larry would be worth it over the chain stores.
but, i've got a group of flatlanders flying in and some of them might be a hard sell?

If someone had purchased a pair of Spirit 4s on a pro deal because it was what they could get at the time, but has issues feeling back seat and needs something like a heal lift to take up a little volume, would it be ok to take my existing boots to Larry?
I know that it is not ideal, but it is what I have to work with. How much should I expect to pay for the hour or so of his time?

It's not like you went in there for a shell fit then went and grabbed the boots elsewhere..of course it would be ok. Selling new boots isn't what Larry does best.

if you are going to bring booze, bring a nice bottle of wine.
or bring a big pepsi, pizza, sandwiches, etc.

Larry first fit boots for us back in the mid 1990s. He was highly recommend back then. I still use the custom insoles. He's a really good guy and has lots of experience. I stop in his new shop when I come back to town to visit family, and it seems like they have a good thing going. Busy.
kevo, yes I would bring in the boots to larry. There are all sorts of simple things that can be done to adjust those boots. It is worth discussing options with someone like Larry. Make an appointment.

Really? You have to ask???
...and yes, bring good food and/or GO-Fast. Larry drinks the shit out of that (unless he gave it up over the summer...)

I went in there with brand new spirit 4's I got on pro form somewhere else so I could get them molded, but they were apparently the wrong size(cause Im an idiot and was skiing boots 2 sizes too big for 2 years and didn't really notice). Larry swapped them out for me for the right size Spirit 4 on the spot, made me some footbeds, molded them, and everything. He's a good dude and everyone should go the, but he should probably start sending his dynafit mounts out to someone different than who he currently uses...
I also went back in 3 times that season for little tweaks to my boot fit and he did them all free of charge(although I DID bring a 6er of something good every time I went), apparently I should have brought food because if you take one look at that beer fridge, it is stocked up for the nuclear winter because everyone brings beer. grab a pizza instead"Yes, what we do is dangerous, but I'm lucky - I know how to do it. It's changed the way we look at mountains. For me it would be crazy to live in a big city and work on Wall Street. That's insane. I would never do that. I'm living the dream. It's the greatest job ever."

To the op:
I'm a flatlander who flew in for a weekend, for what it's worth.
Hopefully your friends will know what's best for them.

Just returned from first visits to Larry's shop and just want to re-iterate what's been said here.
Larry is a knowledgable, passionate ski boot pimp!
It was a pleasure and I would recommend him highly to anyone needed bootwork or new boots.
Just make an appt, and bring food or gofast.Last edited by whorehey; 10-04-2009 at 11:34 PM.

Larry is the guy to hit up, hands down. I've only trusted my boots to two bootfitters, him being one of them. Boots have around 300 days on them too. He gets super busy so set up an appointment for sure.

I'd love to have a boot fitter that has the reputation of Larry. Might have to go there when i'm in the area. Haven't yet had a boot fitter who got it right.

thanks again guys!
well, i couldn't get them talked into going to Larry's?
turns out we may not have had time enough to have made it happen anyways?
had people flying in at 2 deferent times at DIA, or is that Kansas International Airport? whatever the hell that cluster fuck is, we spent most of the day going to and from it!
so, long story short. Broncos won, and we got a flatlander in some big store gear. much beer was drank, and many boobs were oggled!
Cheers to Larry! hope to get in there and see him some time.
