    Ok ... I got the Toko T14 (from http://www.slidewright.com/ ... thanks as always, Terry!). Note that the temperature setting goes down to 90C (not 100), so this might be helpful for those contemplating a new iron and who use some of these low melting point waxes.

    First observation: I seem to be using less wax. What's not to like about that? I'm still not laying on a super thin layer the way Terry is capable of doing, but that my be due to needing to experiment with temperature.

    Second observation: no smoke in the workshop. I've never been able to maintain a tight enough temperature window (hot enough to melt, & cool enough to not smoke).

    I only waited 40 years to figure this out.

    Hertel Hot Sauce with a second layer of FC739 baked overnight=greased lightning. Drop the FC739 if you're worried about the environment and still glide better than most.

    yup clothes irons always seem to either smoke or run cold

    and I love it when I get to say ... told ya so !
