Goddamn that shit pisses me off. Fuck that ugly cunt - I hope one day the "charging bear" actually does charge her and rip her saggy tits off.
What a shameful waste of a beautiful creature... for what - bragging rights?
Was it shitting in the woods too much?
That was murder.

it was painless, the shot was perfect
the animal went down in 3 seconds, i doubt it could be done as quickly with a firing squad of .500 Nitro Expresses
Japanese archers spend lifetimes trying to attain that level of Zen, of Art, of a pure moment amidst overwhelming fear, uncertainty, and doubt
"Some people jab a vein for it", some people drop 70 degree chutes for it, this woman became an expert archer and paid a guide $20,000 for it
is food the only legitimate reason to hunt?
question: how do Kodiak bears die in the wild if no one is around to shoot it?
answer: holes in their intestines from fish bones; broken jaws from fights (starvation); other injuries leading to an inability to feed itself
pain pain pain
slow and lingering
i used to live on Kodiak (i still own a few acres between the Alutiiq villages of Karluk and Larsen Bay)
slightly over 1Kodiak Brownie/square mile of the 3000 square mile island
the bear population on Kodiak has remained stable for the last 40 years, with hunters taking about 200 bears/year

Hey - if I could hunt anything without getting thrown in prison it would be humans, and I agree that a lot of hunters are in it for all the wrong reasons, but I'd much rather live a free life in the wilderness and be surprise shot than get herded into a cattle truck and driven to a slaughterhouse where you can smell the stench of death. Tipp - you do eat meat, don't you? Hey - I do too, but I refuse to eat livestock. Y'know why? Because that whole trip is wrong.
Prepare yourself for STOKE!!!.

Did she eat the bear? No. I eat critter weekly, Jer. I have no problem with food animals being treated as such. This is not a food animal. This is a trophy hunt and it is disgusting. Why is this any morally different than hunting housecats or retards? <-

That bear was still running before the edit to her fat ass sitting next to it. 3 seconds my ass. Not in pain my ass squared.
Yes food and protection of self/property are the only legitimate reasons to hunt. That bear was taking a shit, stood up to see who was sneaking up on him, and got killed for that cunt's ego. Pure and simple.
Some bears die from perforated stomachs, others die from starving, drowning, getting killed by other bears, breaking a leg and wasting away, etc. Some humans die from cancer, car accidents, wars, stupidity, etc. The rationalization that you're doing the bear a favor by killing him with a weapon rather than possibly dying a painful natural death is fucking stupid. It's not guaranteed to be a clean kill - in this case she could have easily missed and as it is we don't know if that bear suffered or not. It's also not guaranteed that the animal will die painfully without being "mercifully" blown away by a human.

because you don't get to see the hours of practice and the emotional and physical mastery to close the deal on a 900lb carnivore at 20 yards with a bent stick
and yes, they might have taken backstraps
brownies (and spring blackies) are the only legal game animal that the State of Alaska doesn't require 100% recovery of edible meat
reason? trichonosis
but so what? you don't hunt brownies, especially with a bow, for the meat, or even the hide and skull
you hunt brownies for the experience of hunting brownies
bullshitThat bear was still running before the edit to her fat ass sitting next to it. 3 seconds my ass. Not in pain my ass squared.
shot was at 1:22
he went down at 1:32
"not merely dead, but clearly and sincerely dead" about 30 seconds after that, judging by the devastating effect of the arrow through the aorta
yeah, i didn't like the "BEAR CHARGE!!" bullshit eitherYes food and protection of self/property are the only legitimate reasons to hunt. That bear was taking a shit, stood up to see who was sneaking up on him, and got killed for that cunt's ego. Pure and simple.
but she spotted it, stalked it,
almost blew it when he picked them out
it was now or never for the hunter, and she looked it right in the eye and fkn killed it with a bent stick
ego? you mean like Laird or Alex Lowe or Shane or anyone else with The Right Stuff?
“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely games.”
Ernest would probably count chasing Kodiaks with a bow as a real sport too

Yea, I don't really get trophy hunting either, especially predator hunting. It is such an inherently selfish act, deliberately seeking out the finest example of a species you can find, just to take it out of existence.
I have a theory that it hinders natural selection and the evolution of a species since the fittest of a species are sought out and destroyed, thereby making the lesser examples more likely to survive and pass on their genes.
Highangle, you talk about challenge and skill and bla bla bla, if you really want a true challenge, run down a live uninjured deer. That is a fucking challenge, and you don't have to kill anything. Unfortunatly i guess you don't get a "trophy" for it to hang on your damn wall, but highangle says its about the moment of zen anyway right, not bragging to your buddies about how core you are? For those of you that think I'm full of shit, it has been done. Deer sprint away from danger then go back to moving pretty slow. If a person knows how to track well enough to stay on the deer's trail for a long damn time (possibly 24 hours or more) and continually surprise it into sprinting away, eventually the deer will become exhausted and you can walk up and touch it.
Trophy hunting really isn't all that hard, especially when you pay a guide to find you an animal, its really pretty lame. Granted, doing it with a bow makes it a bit cooler, but still, its lame.__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ________________

I don't hunt and I also don't quite get it. To each his own, they are animals. Bear or squirrel, whats the difference? I don't think an animal understands whats happening when it gets shot. It doesn't have the emotions a human would have when shot. Those emotions are the torture, not the pain.
This is an interesting argument...
I have a theory that it hinders natural selection and the evolution of a species since the fittest of a species are sought out and destroyed, thereby making the lesser examples more likely to survive and pass on their genes.
...but not interesting enough to think hunting is wrong.

The difference is food animals vs other animals. That squirrel's place in the ecosystem is to be food for other creatures, like my dog, or me if I really want some meat on a camping trip. The bear is not a food animal, it just isn't. I guess if someone was starving i wouldn't fault them for eating bear, but I don't get killing just for killing.
I hunt, I haven't gotten a deer or elk yet, but I'd like to. I've eaten plenty of rabbits and a few snakes (rattlesnake is SOOOO GOOD!), almost all of which I killed myself.
I get hunting for food, I know a lot of people will only eat meat that has come from a store because its packaged and processed and they don't have to think about it being part of a dead animal. I think that's backwards, i'd much rather only eat meat that I or someone I know has killed themselves because then I do know where it came from.
But if you're not going to eat it, and its not threatening anyone's safety, WTF is the point of killing it? Just because it makes your dick hard to kill something? I have tried to understand it, and I do NOT get it.
The one exception is the calling of coyotes, I have watched some rednecks call in a coyote once and that was really cool to see. They did kill the yote, and I kind of cringed at that, but the killing part was almost irrelevant, its the calling it in which was really cool.
The bottom line to me though, is that most trophy hunting, especially with a guide, really isn't a very big accomplishment, and doesn't take a whole lot of skill.__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ________________
