Best Jarred/store bought Salsa you ever had?
Two categories:
Nationally available brands
Local brands.
Just had some Rio Habanero Salsa that knocked my socks off, unbelievably great.
Oh, we also have to discuss Pico De Gallo versus Salsa proper, as well as red and green.Forum Cross Pollinator, gratuitously strident

Isn't Jarred that fat guy from Subway? Does he have his own salsa now? Sweet!

Pace?
Are you joking?
I am loving this stuff from Winco:
Mix it 1/2 n' half with the Herdez green enchilada sauce, and you have a great Huevos Rancheros sauce...Last edited by rideit; 09-24-2009 at 01:25 PM.

KQ's Herdez picks, and I actually like the ChiChi's hot salsa.

Hey...I grew up in San Antonio...gotta stay loyal to the hometown, and I can't get the local stuff up here.
The best salsa in the world is the stuff in the bowl on the table at La Fogata in San Antonio - the Northside location - but they don't jar it.
That and Green Sauce from Mamacita's are essentials of any trip to Texas.

X3 on Mrs. Renfro's Green. Haven't had it in awhile. Think I go buy now.
Herdez is great in a pinch.

If you're on the West Coast you have to try Emerald Valley. Medium is the shit, and it's organic for you long hairs out there:
Some people are like Slinkies... not really good for anything, but you still can't
help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs...

+4 for the Mrs. Renfros. I've enjoyed most of their varieties.

I can't say that I've tried all the one's listed above, but personally, Newman's Own Salsa (as in Paul Newman) is pretty damn good.

mmm.. salsa, my fave food group!!
Also a fan of the Green Mountain Gringo.
For bang for the buck:
Jack's Garden Fresh Gourmet - a med/hot salsa w/ decent flavor:
Costco carries a huge tub of it here- Under $6
Otherwise, haven't found a local one I love yet here in Utah (salsa bars at any mex rest. rock here though!) - actually, take that back, the ones made by Sunflower market are pretty good.
In maine, I love getting at Shaws/Hannaford from the deli cooler, the
HOT Tio Juan Margaritas salsa - as in, from the New England "chain":
it's more of a blended salsa, but still chunky, just love the taste and it's got heat.
For a fresh chopped Pico style, I also like
Sister's Salsa out of Blue Hill Maine:
Apparently you can order it online (avail in 100 NE locations) even though it's a refrigerated salsa.
from the Mexican aisle, besides Mrs Renfro's - the generics in Albertson's/Shaws are either Essenia or Wild Harvest Organic,
the chipotle ones are pretty good/cheap.
