    WE'VE DONE IT!

Woohoo! We (Chugach Powder Guides) have received the first five year heliskiing permit in US history. Ouir permitted area has just expanded from 1000 square miles to 2500 square miles. It's been a long damn road (4 years of battling) but we finally got pretty much evrything we've been asking for. This should enable us to put together a premeire "First Descents" exploratory product that is purely exploratory in nature. We just gained one hell of a lot of unscratched territory folks!

Spoke with Jim Conway, and I think we'll do an exploratory week with Conway as guest guide. He's an excellent resource for opening new terrain. Drop me a line if you are interested.

Here's the poop on the permit.

Here are a few pics of some of the new stuff...

Big Congrats ONS. All that good karma of providing us with a place to hang out on the interweb is returning to you.

Edit: So this permit took you four years to get and it's a five year permit. Doing some math... I guess that means you have to start working on the next permit real soon

Congrats on the permit. Nothing like wrangling with layers of management to take some years off.

    Someday...someday...I'll make it up there.

Sweet...I will be up there next winter (gotta finish school first) and if you could save this pow field for me, I would REALLY appreciate it...think of it as a belated graduation gift. Congrats on the permit...looks like some sick possibilities!

WOW!! That's just great! I had no idea that 5 year permits for heliskiing in the U.S. didn't exist up until now.

That terrain makes me all wet just looking at it.

Nice work with the permit. Permits definitely seem to signify who lives and who dies in the industry.

That said, heli-assisted first descents are total bullshit.

This one really does it for me . . . . the idea of pushing off the top of that peak. [heavy sigh]
