Need Help Sizing a new Ski

    Hey all.
Ive decided to bite the bullet and get some new skis. Currently skiing Volkl Supersport Six Star (168) im 5`8 about 160lbs 24yrs old ski 20-30 days a year on the east (VT, NH, NY) 10-12 days out west. Very aggressive, tree, and B/C skier.

I've narrowed my choices down the the rossignol CX80 and the Volkl AC50 2008 Models to keep my costs down. I was told that the CX in the 170 is too much, but i can get a 160 for 600$ mounted which is a great deal. My concern, is 160 too short? I know it will be quick to turn, but will it be enough under my foot.

    Looking for advice. Thanks all!

    JR

    Nice troll?

Actually, I just skimmed through your 16 other posts and am now undecided (troll or not?).
So maybe you're just an idiot who can't ski. Either way,

An 85mm for BC? A 160cm? Those are more frontside skis. For VT I'd look at some Volkl Bridges, some Bro 174s, something with a 90mm waist MINIMUM.

    Either troll or non-skier.

You want advice? I advise you stop acting like a tool.

Unless you're racing SL those are snowlerblades.

Or maybe you're a dwarf, in which case I apologize for being so heightist.

for the EC you're going to want something relatively stiff, the 174 bro ski would be great. Wide enough to handle the BC. Moment tahoe could also work for your purposes. there are a million skis out there that fit you "do everything" requirements. 160 will be way too short, you'll skis will suck at speed.

Alright, I'll be nice. A troll is someone who comes onto a forum asking un-popular questions just to try and rile up the locals and get some angry responses.

As for your ski question, you'd probably have better luck at www.epicski.com Folks over there tend to favor shorter, narrower skis (like what you're looking at) and will be a little nicer to newcomers.

Yeah def didnt realize the drama i would cause. Def a newbie to this forum and my description of what i was looking for was weak.

What i should asked was any of you guys ski the Rossi CX80 and the Volkl AC50 what did you like, what didnt you like. For the everyday use, i already have the pow day/BC skis so that was useless information.

I was askin about the 160 because i could have picked up the Rossi for 450 new. I know longer is better and in the end i know i woulda been unhappy with something that small.

After i saw how worked up "Dex" got i had to keep going.

    So Sorry if i "trolled"

If you are looking for a ski in 160 cm length, I would hope it was like 200 mm underfoot. Damn! That is a good idea...

160 is a waste of money at your size and/ or ability. Not enough ski (unless you like to turn every 10 feet).

Just kidding around, really. But if he's serious about skiing 160's for anything other than racing (slalom, obviously) then I just don't get it, which is why I thought he was trolling. It is a typical troll first post...
    Or maybe he is 4'11".

Again, really not worked up at all, but you need to smack whoever told you a 170 is too much ski--or if that's true you need to figure out how to ski. If you're looking for groomer skis I'd check out a true GS ski in something around 180 (+/- 10cm) or, if that's too much for you, one of the skis that's basically a softer version of a GS ski. If you plan on skiing a lot of bumps or something then go with a park-type ski.

And stop asking TGR what you should ski. Tech talk, JONG.

Dex, does it help if I highlight the bit you've asked about twice now?

I think we have established this is not a troll. This is typical JONG behavior.
