another monster show i was at on the Fall '84 tour.
19 years old with a super trusted source for ultra-clean doses.
yellow paper with a purple half-moon face profile, pure fire.
    i was a full-blown freak in 1984!
    good times, good times
11 song first set, featuring a killer Brother Esau and a bunch of smoking Jerry tunes

Nice choice, easily one of my fav shows from 84, 6 mos. before I got on the bus in philly. I wore out my maxell of this show. High Time and China Doll in same show was rare let alone the same set.

My first 'elective' sets, last night. Killer versions of bird song, brother esau, and lay down sally in the first set.
Second set was all about a monstrous Alligator>jam>drums>space>Alligator segment. Good stuff. I prefer Kevin on bass, but the new guy was still good.

Sounds like a fun show. Where are the "hippie" kids roaming around outside?

Been on a short hiatus when it comes to Dead listening. Gotta take a break once in a while. It make me appreciate the music that much more.

    Tonight's enjoyment for me: https://archive.org/details/gd1973-0...seamons.flac16

Interesting feeling to this one. Not one of the up tempo shows of '73. This show has a great groove to it from start to finish. Far from perfect but that's the band. Tough to beat this one on a warm evening on the porch.

This is a bit older than most of the shows posted in this thread, but it grooves with the best of 'em and is one of my favorites:

7-10-89 was a lot of fun. Was that the lighting storms show?
Cover band played 7-8-78 here the other night, one of my top 10 faves all time, inspired me to listen to 7-7 again, which has an immaculate s>f, and a stellar peggy o, among other greats

With Owsley in prison, it's mostly audience tapes for 1970 which is maybe apropos as they show how INVOLVED a Dead audience was back then >> put some headphones on, embrace the imperfections and check out The Other One through Lovelight, from Bobby just hammerin away on St. Stephen to Reverend Pig hosting a Southern Matchmaking Revival, the audience is right with 'em: https://archive.org/details/gd1970-1...5.sbeok.flac16

Tough news- Phil has bladder cancer. Sounds like they got it before it spread.

Nice to hear. I tried like hell to make the 11/1 show but couldn't get a ride down from NJ until the next day. Great show also (China Doll) but not quite up to the standard set the night before. The 2 Byrne shows later that next week are all timers from the year for me, on the rail the second night (unfortunately in spitting range) for the second set Scarlet>Fire.

Too many favs from the year to pick from though, Philly, Hershey, Saratoga, Merriweather, Cincy, Chula Vista etc., etc...
