Drive By Truckers
The last few weeks I've really gotten into this band. Take a generous helping of Lynyrd Skynyrd circa 1975, and mix with a good portion of 1993 Pearl Jam. Throw in a little bit of 1985 REM, and 1979 Springsteen. Mix well with Jack Daniels. Turn it up to 11. Enjoy.

Oy. If you had only posted this a bit earlier. DBT's stormed into NY on Saturday night and laid waste to Irving Plaza.
Charlie, here comes the deuce. And when you speak of me, speak well.

have heard nothing but good things about these guys, and considering my love of UT and other "americana" recordings, can't believe i haven't finally bought something from them. so, what album do you reccomend as a first listen/purchase for DBT?

Little bro' has recommended these guys, but still haven't heard anything from them, for those in the know, what are they like?
Southern Culture on the Skids, or more Skynard????
Nice description though Plakespear.Skiing, where my mind is even if my body isn't.

some skynard, but more SKOTS but with more wild turkey & jeans & trucker hats before that moron that fucks Demi started wearin em.
little bit of EARLY REM, reckoning when they were rockabillyish & southern. ad some robert Earl keen mixed with whiskeytown & Uncle Tupleo and widespread first couple albums, all thrown in a bottle & drank straight & played loud.
I dunno its rock & roll by some doods from alabama.
thats all it is & so much more?
that help?

Aaaayeeeeppp. Like the Robert Earl King influence, or so I hope.
Need some new tunes, and that sounds like the type of notes that I would like to be floating around my lobes in the fall time. Thnx.
Throw in a bottle, drink straight, and play loud.
Sounds like a new anthem. Me likey.Skiing, where my mind is even if my body isn't.

Caddy you checked em out yet?
Just saw the Band in Park Coty 10/18.
Posted in the main forum to solicit attendees, but SLCers don’t like sothern fried rock I guses.
Too bad.
What a day,
Off the mountain early for a meeting. On the way down the canyon Troy on KRCL says the DBTs are gonna do an acoustic set @ SugarBeats in Sufar house.
Meetings done head to Sugar beats,
The band plays a song I couldna place, Never gonna change, Carl Perkins Cadilac, Sands of Iwo Jima, then an encore of Danko/ Manuel. Usually wisky soaked & loud, I underestimated the bands musicianship, the accoustic set was tight & soulful/. Aafter words thy hang out, check out records @ Orions, chat about being on tour, etc. Great guys & gal.
Went home, & arranged with a friend to head up around 730. Unfortunatley said friend is born & raised Masshole so as trhe y game went on & on & on, we were pushed back to 830. Finally I sadi we are leaving & we will rock ESPN radio all the way.
Right as I pulled up @ his house Ortiz hits in the winning run.
sweet.
Off to Suede.
Crowd was resorty & loaded with hot women ( must be a southern thing)
opening band finishes up & the Truckers come on & proceed to rip the roof off.
wow damnit it was good, loud fun.
Cant wring a set list out but some of my highlights, Lookoutmountain, screamed along by the whole crowd, Let there be rock "
And I never saw Lynyrd Skynyrd but I sure saw Molly Hatchet
With 38 Special and the Johnny Van Zant Band", Buford stick w/ long intro,
Decoration day, Shut up & get on the plane, on & on.
damn them doods & doodette rock.
If ya can, see em.
had to self destruct the thread in Ski Snowboard as promised, this’ll hang longer

Awesome, Awesome show. Saw these guys in NYC (seems to be an annual Fall occurrance) and they are fee-nominal.
As a side note, they are touring with Runner & the Thermodynamics. Great band to see live - song writing is meh, but they are really, really tight and the drummer is a hoot. Have some blazing covers of Thin Lizzy. You won't regret getting to the venue a bit early.Charlie, here comes the deuce. And when you speak of me, speak well.

Heard "Carl Perkins' Cadillac" on the Radio the other day. The DJ described them as Skynard (obviously) meets World Party. Maybe for that song, but not on the whole.
Wooklar- what format are those shows on? Can I burn them to CD?"There is a hell of a huge difference between skiing as a sport- or even as a lifestyle- and skiing as an industry"

Just got The Dirty South back from a freind, why I loaned it is beyond me.
Along these lines, I've been hearing the Black Keys on KEXp and really want to buy their new album Rubber Factory.
Any other albums like DBT and TBK?"These are crazy times Mr Hatter, crazy times. Crazy like Buddha! Muwahaha!"

Due to the glowing reviews on these guys, I picked up The Dirty South last week. Going back for a couple of other disks today - good stuff. Thanks all.

The Dirty South is alright, Decoration Day is much better though. Saw them live at Bumbershoot this past August in Seattle. They kick ass.
