Moving to El Salvador (JONG content)
So I am moving to El Salvador this Saturday for about a year. My wife will have an affiliation with the University of Central America, so we will start out living in San Salvador and at some point maybe La Union.
My wife will have more scholarly pursuits, but I plan on really learning to surf.
I have not surfed much and when I did the first Bush was still in office.
What should I bring down with me from Los Estados Unidos? Bringing a board doesn't make sense, I will hopefully progress through some beginner boards and then buying something locally when I know what I need.
Wax? Leashes? Anything else to pick up before I head down? Any and all advice would be appreciated. Names of rental places and instructors?
Anyone have experience buying a car and getting a license?

I'm feeling OK about the move. I better, I am in the airport, waiting for my flight to be called.
I hope it doesn't get too crowded. NYT article.
