Thumbs down Julien Regnier fired by Armada WTF?!

Has the world/execs at Armada gone mad? I mean, I've heard about this so-called recession thing, and subsequent "cutbacks" but I hadn't realised that would include Armada, a so-called "core" modern freeskiing company firing a guy that is greatly responsible for:
    [a] inventing modern freeskiing
    [b] inventing armada
[c] inventing some of the best skis ever made.

I am slightly confused and occasionally downright appalled by the conduct of Armada who, last timeI checked, was allegedly a company run "by riders, for riders"...

    -email from JR-Antony Boronowski:
    Hi Tony,

Some of the people I start the company with told me they will not renew my contract. I had nothing to say and no way to defend my case. The weird thing is that they did not try to talk about and see if we could find a way to work something out, they just told me that it was over, just like if I was skiing for salomon or K2... I shaped most of the skis for that company beside my riding and the original impulse to make it happen... It's kinnda rough I guess they are ways to talk to people you start a company with, or so I though.

I'm currently looking for a ski sponsor.
    and enjoying the summer
    thanks for listening.

p.s. i hope coreUPT sign him and pay him shitloads of money. i might consider buying skis from whoever signs him just to spite armada. i certainly won't be buying their products ever again, which is a shame because JJs and Pipe Cleaners were very much on my to-do list.

The kids name is "anthony_B" on newschoolers, but thats not Anthony Boronowski. Look at the profile man.

I believe the screen name "anthony_B" is in homage to the reggae artist, not the professional skier. I do not believe this english rastafarian is trying to pose as Anthony Boronowski.

I thought Armada was partly a partnership with the original riders having shares? Pretty harsh. Whatever happened to Cusson, though?

He is no longer listed on the team page on Armada's site. I guess even the rock stars of the ski world aren't immune to what's going on with the economy. Hopefully he lands another sponsor soon.

excuse me? now, i understand this is tgr and not ns, so definitions of "modern freeskiing" may differ somewhat. i'd define modern freeskiing as the twintip/fat ski "revolution" onwards, and the blurring of the boundaries between those phenomena. you clearly subscribe to a different definition of modern freeskiing, for if you accept mine then you would have to be severely mentally handicapped to dispute the fact that monsieur regnier has been one of the sport's greatest pioneer's- and indeed the industry's for what it's worth armada... (nothing, evidently).

didn't realise that dude on ns wasn't the real AB. not really important though.

    We have similar defintions.
Many things were going on at the same time back then. It wasn't just one guy. Sorry your life is based on a false premise, bra.

    Sucks for him.

I'm unemployed. So are many of my friends. I feel bad for the guy, but it's hard for me to get that irate.

I was forced out of the company that I co-founded after we sold it. I know quite a few company founders who have had similar experiences. I've also worked with quite a few company founders who did a lot of shit that was bad for the company.

I don't know anything about Julien Regnier other than his name. However, if he is as talented and influential as you claim, he shouldn't have any problem getting a new deal or starting something else. Or perhaps he is still trying to live his glory days of something that he did 10 years ago and is still expecting to reap the profits. If that's the case, maybe time to think about a new career path.

nor did I, at any point, say it was. I suggested he was "greatly responsible" for the creation and progression of the sport. Of course he didn't single handedly dream up freeskiing but he has been certainly one of its most influential pioneers. If you dispute that than i'm afraid you are just wrong.

Nope. But I know at least one person who was.

As patxi noted, it happens all the time.

I didn't say it doesn't suck, but again, hard to get irate.

    Is this a serious question?

Maybe he was let go because good skier are a dime-a-dozen these days, and he can't spell.

Armada has been trying to lose dead weight for a while. I understand all JR did for the ski industry, but when you're getting paid a lot of $$$ to ski and represent a company then you need to do those things. If you don't, then the $$$ looks to be wasted...

JF wanted to golf all the time instead of skiing so they axed him, Boyd pissed around and they sent him packing, JR knew the deal, he's been around... it might seem shitty to you, but you have no idea the back story (and I'm not even saying I know the back story, but I know a few guys...).

PS- yeah, Tanner's had one surgery due up for another then rehabbing. He's shut it down for the season
