    Flylow Higgins jacket.

I know it's new and all, any likely nobody has fondled it yet, but I'll ask anyway.

Will this be waterproof enough for the usual wet coastal BC/ PNW winter?

ahhh but will it be a tad slimmer and longer then the squarish but awesome kung fu? Us taller skinnier guys need to know.

Note ive heard a rumour that yellow is not only more waterproof it has been tested to fit differently then red.

the prototype trade show piece i tried on in jan. was slimmer fitting through the chest/waist than a kung fu or lab shel; not hugely narrower, but a touch.

    Bump...

I'm also considering one. Wanted to see if anyone has had a chance to take a look at it.

Is the womens' line a baggy fit or is she wearing XL for the look?

I've skied one day in mine and worn it around town. This is the best piece that Flylow has come out with. The cut is great (finally, a bit more narrow fitting), details are well thought out and the materials well suited for the cold drier climes of Brahlorado.

Would have been way better if you said it was suited to the wet snotty sopping conditions of the Puking North West.

It may well. However, you know how dry it is here. I'd hate to rec'd for all weather types and have it let you down. On all other accounts, I say go for it. Well built, well thought out with nice features (big pockets for skins on the inside) and a durable finish.

So I went and tried it on at Black Diamond and can only comment on the fit. I am a Med for jackets, extra medium. The med fits me great. I am 150 5'8". It had the feel of a more core/tech Arcteryx Gamma mx if that makes any sense. Similar in fit but not as ice axe, more full cut than the gamma. Meaning room to layer or throw your skins inside.

Truly felt like a softshell. Now with the construction having a membrane and taped seams, it should stand the weather test. But that is after just examining the jacket.

Seems super burly and appears well thought out. Big pit zips, chest zip could dump heat also if needed but has a mesh lining. The mesh inside is like a shelf design to put your skins or other junk and an inner pocket too.

Bad thing, I want one now. I thought the chemical pants were going to woo me but left wanting the Higgins. Oh and the yellow was fairly neon the red was a rust.

she is 5' or 5'1. that appears to be a medium. my wife is the same size - 5' and the small fits well. i would say they fit true to size.

Ya I already did the chemical pant in brown, now I can't decide yellow or rust.
Rust and Brown vs. Yellow and Brown.

I really like the looks of this jacket but I'm in the PNW too so I'd be really interested in hearing how it holds up in the wet weather.

I dig the FlyLow construction and design, but I really wish they had some more color options.

5'10", 155, and the medium Higgins fits me quite nicely. Only complaint so far is that the cuffs don't open up enough to easily get my gloves in. But it's no biggie.

6'3" 195, I went with the XL in bright yellow to layer and for that extra steeze factor.
Love the fit and construction seems extremely bomber. If the construction is as good as the dropkick pant I'll be quite happy.

I sealed some gloves for some flylow duckets and was able to roll that into a higgins and a pair of the new magnums...

Im trying to get my gear shook out so I dont have to pull my pack at the top. I want to be able to zip up, pull skins, change to downhill and split. So outer layers with some really big vents are a must as I run relatively warm.

Me. 6'0 195# with a bigger back/shoulders. I picked up the Higgins in a large (ugly ass rescue me yellow after listening to the wife bitch about finding me in a snow storm)

Fit. A little length on me and the arms are a good, no slide up length when reaching/climbing etc... Its not a lot of bulk when layered with my patagucci R1 pullover. The hood goes over my helmet, which can be nice on cold lift rides.

Features. I like the placement of the pockets, as they are easy to get to with a pack on. The chest pocket holds my shuffle nicely and the pockets on the interior rawk for skins. The clips to hold the jacket to your belt loops are there, but kinda weak elastic and I wish there was one in the middle of the back (just on the sides). The pit zips are huge.

Weather. So far Ive had it out in a considerable amount of variable conditions. It works well for me here in Colorado, but I cant say what it would do somewhere wetter (ie PNW). Ive had some wet snow days down in the front range and havent noticed any moisture making its way into the jacket itself.

All in all, Im pretty stoked with the jacket and cant think of much I would change about it.
