Recommend a good drinking establishment in SLC

I need to find a drinking establishment in SLC that meets some of the following:

-Halfway or so between the airport and Sandy
-Not a dive, college bar, or heavily TV'd sports bar
-A place where you could take business associates or your girlfriend and have a conversation without shouting (midweek)

I know some of the downtown establishments that would fit this, but what else is out there?

not a local, just a visitor but wasatch brew pub sounds like it fits the bill.

I know the Bayou and "Beervana", anything with less beer and more wine? (not my choice).

I came across Meditrina on South Temple (tapas and wine). Anyone been there?

    Here are three suggestions:

    1. Wild Grape on South Temple and E street
    2. Bambara (Hotel Monaco)
    3. Green Pig Pub (I haven't been there yet, but it looks interesting from the outside) 31 E 400 S

What you should do is go get a Negra Modelo, a tequila shot, & then some amarillo mole at Red Iguana

The Red Door. Downtown next to Hotel Monaco. Martinis, Wine, small and intimate.

Perhaps you'd be more comfortable on epicski or Paula's Ski Lovers, AltaNancy.

it was better when you could get in w/o waiting in line (or walk in the back door to the Kitchen with Ramon RIP)

50 W. North Temple. Put a 40 in a paper bag, sit on steps and drink. phUnk's favorite place is: here.

The Red Iguana is always on the list of stops when I am in SLC. I love that place as well.

I've been to Meditrina. It's pretty good, but is in a prettty sketchy hood. I'll second the red door and the wild grape, recommended above. Pago at 9th and 9th is a great new restaurant (pretty high end) that claims to also be wine bar.

The Beerhive is a new place on main and like 15 south or so, it's pretty nice inside, the bar actually has an ice strip in it to set your beer on and keep it cold. Pretty nice.
    sigless.
