Pssst: you're not the only one in this thread who's had multiple alii.

Gripen - Make no mistake, I absolutely believe in having the biggest baddest dog on the block... or better yet if everyone else has a dog I want a fucking bear. With laserbeams.

I was chuckling at folks like Summit who are hobby military 'experts' because they think it's an inherently neato ramjet subject. It's not - the US Military is no more cool than the NYPD or the DCFD or the Dept. of Transportation. It's a tool to fulfill a need, like a computer or a lawnmower. You don't glorify computers, either (unless, of course, you're an Apple Geek.)

^^^ The problem is the US doesn't want just the baddest dog. Everyone else are chihuahuas and the military frequently argues that we aren't a big enough sabertooth tiger. At a point it just becomes a waste. And I believe that point is when THE MILITARY THEMSELVES say it is a complete waste. But hey, what the hell do all those admirals and generals know, I'm sure we'd be better off following douchebag politicians and civilians like Gripen.

The US military is subordinate to the civilian government, always has been and hopefully always will be.

BTW it was Robert Gates, himself a civilian, who made the recommendation.... in order to secure funding for F-35's.
Local Golden, BC area rep for Bluehouse Skis. Shoot me a PM if you'd like to try a pair when you're in the area!

"He is god of snow; the one called Ullr. Son of Sif, step son of Thor. He is so fierce a bowman and ski-runner that none may contend! He is quite beautiful to look upon and has all the characteristics of a warrior. It is wise to invoke the name of Ullr in duels!"

They can't even get the fuel pump to work right on the F-35.
Like the F-18 isn't good enough?
The B-2 .........another overpriced piece of junk.

Close all bases around the world. Maintain a reasonable nuke deterrent.
Get the hell out of other countries and everything will be fine.

Then work on a nice supersonic commercial jet instead of all this military crap.

Cutting edge technology has helped us so well in the past. Look at how we kicked ass in Vietnam. Iraq was "mission accomplished" in 2002. I'm sure we're mere second away from bringing democracy to Afghanistan. I just hope the batteries don't run out. Then we're completely fucked.

Model airplanes with bombs will save us. They will give us the first victory since what Grenada. Was that a victory? Certainly a formidable opponent.

Changing our stupid PC policies would save us hundreds of billions of year. Merely changing our policies so we can conduct political assasinations, torture (when appropriate), terror, and just putting the fear of god in our enemies in general would be better then $300 billion worth of stealth airplanes. If we weren't such fucking pussies we wouldn't have to spend so much fucking money conducting PC wars.

    Wanna score some steroids?

I think a nice cycle of Depo-Test would do wonders for you.

I'm picturing Jer in pajamas running around the jungle huping a howitzer to shell Dien Bien Phu
