    186 or 191-Lhasas pows

Ok, Ive read all the posts on the lhasas but im looking for a little more input. Im going to pull the trigger on a pair. Last year I was deciding between the wailer 105s and the lhasas and for various reasons I went with the dps. There a fine ski and super light but I never loved them. At the end of the season in spring heavy pow I was constantly fighting to keep my tips from diving.
So if the 191 were not an option id take the 186 over the 196. This will be a bc ski only mounted with dynafits. Now I know we are only talking about 4cm so Im not sure how much of a difference the length will make. Certainly in most situations the extra length will help but I do find myself sidestepping rock band and skiing some tight ass chutes at times. Im not a hucker or a straitliner but ski fast with at least a decent amount of style. My quiver was the dps in a 188(length felt good) and obsethed in a 189(definitely a long ski). I know k2 run long compared to most companies. Wondering how the 191 would compare to the 189 obsethed. Just looking for input.
    Thanks

If you know Lance in Telluride, check out his 196s.

I know lance but not well. I probably have not seen him since the winter. Does anyone know how the length compares to the obsethed?

    189 Obsethed =193cm, 191 Lhasa=191cm
Lhasas ski waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy longer and better.
A comparison from someone who skied them both.
If you plan to ski big bowls go 191 if a mixed bag get 186 unless you're really strong.

BTW, I'm 80% sure you'll sell your Obsethed's after a day or two on Lhasas.-)

Hmm interesting. I certainly do not find the obsethed a short skiing ski(its a easy ski to ski but I assume the lhasas are too). If I was going to mount these with alpine binders then I would definitely go with the 191. I probably average 50 days in the bc and 60 on the mountain. Well I cant put in my order til Thursday, so I have time to decide.

I'd agree pretty much prefered the 186 as a bc ski mostly due to late in the day bushwhacking icey luge run snowshoe tracked get outs and tighter trees and the 196 was much better at maching resort chopped pow.
Either way I'd recomend asking splat to grind your tail to a flat point as the pair I had that done on kept the skins attached better and didn't chip.

I don't know of anyone who has ever skied (or seen) a 191. Go with the 186 or 196

We'll be getting the 191 done pretty soon, but not that soon. I think it will be awesome because, with the same dims, it will fall between the 186 and 196, combining the best attributes of those two skis. In a nutshell, they will fucking rock.

5'6" 160 here, 186 going to be too much or just right? I'm no rock star but can ski.

Had no problem with LL2's in a 189 but think the Lhasa is a more serious piece of weaponry.

    164, 6', own the 186 carbon.

    1) Carbon + rocker makes it super quick, runs lighter than it weighs.

    2) If I had it to do over, I'd go longer, and I like tight places.

    3) Have a hunch there will be more difference between the carbon and non-carbon versions than between the 186 and the 191.

    True,
the light weight makes a big difference(at least with the wailers). Im going for the carbons. Im not sure why they make a non carbon version that is priced so close, or at least why anyone would get them. Sure if it was the difference between 600 or 900 then I understand but 100 buck is not that much(if it is you are probably not buying a pair of 700 dollars skis).

Two question for splat. For payment do I go thru the website or just paypal the $$ with what im looking for(191 carbons) Also how does pm gear ship. I live in a town with po boxes so I have two addys(one for fed ex and ups and the other for usps)

skibee is on the 186, in soft flex, as her on hill, powder ski. she is 5"4 and 145. She loves em, but I dont think she would go longer.

she also uses a 180 explosives as her daily driver.

any of the reverse camber, rocker, etc ski / turn so fast, and easily, dont be scared of the extra few cm

You'll have to go through the Paypal addy in the first post in this thread, as the website is not set up for the special amount.
We ship FedEx and UPS. Thanks for asking.

    Trigger pulled!!!!

    Oh yea,
Today was payday. Slightly brutal shelling out the cash in July but I know it will be worth it when the snow starts to fly. I went for the 191's.
    Thanks Splat

Dude. Since you went so over the top, we're throwing in a couple low-mileage hookers just for good measure.
