So I go for a ski related job tomorrow.
I'm going in for a job at a local ski shop tomorrow. I probaly won't be paid more then I make right now(8 dollars an hour untaxed) and I would work with a bunch of gapers. But I would get discounted lift tickets and maybe some proform deals on gear.
Score.
All sell myself like a whore tomorrow and then run and post to my TGR freinds on how it went.

I'm a good 3-4 hours to decent snow at best. But yeah I think I still win.

i just got on the 'mildbill tech monkey program' one day a weekend through november then one night a week in the shop running the belts and mounting skis = a season of free tickets and mad proform steeze.
bill already has a ongoing drinking competition with all the local reps. if you can chug faster than the look rep he hooks you with a shiny pair of p14's on the spot.

Sweet deal. It's much better then the handful of arcade tokens I get, mopping floors at the porn shop 1 nite a week.

09-13-2004, 11:21 AM #15A word of advice; if you really want the job don't wait for them to call you back. Wait a week and drop in, don't call. Be persistant but not pushy. Let them know you really want to work there, that crap wages to begin with are fine and that you have much to contribute as well as much to learn. when you get the job, don't bring up pro deals right away unless the shop does. Show them that you are a competant and hard worker before asking to get hooked up.Originally posted by Sublime

Nice work Sublime, hopefully they give you a ring back shortly.
Interview was short and sweet, going back on Wednesday for a second and to meet the owners of the stores.
Looking around at all the new gear made me giddy, wish winter would hurry.Skiing, where my mind is even if my body isn't.

good luck with the job sublime, i agree that dropping by in a week instead of waiting by the phone couldn't hurt.

Bootfitting
Quite possibly the most interesting aspect of working on the floor at a ski shop is boot fitting. I don't know how many times I went through the "it should be snug, not tight" routine with the skiing population of Central Jersey. Some people you pop on the first boot and they're happy, others you seriously pull every boot from the shelves and half the ones in the back room and don't ever find one that works...
Then there is the whole "whose foot your putting the boot on" thing. I'd say that the demographic that I had to work with was horrible. We had the "white trash" market share cornered... BUT we also had the Polish market share cornered as well. The unfortunate thing was that for every incredibly hot Polish girl that I put in a pair of ski boots - there was the horrifically jealous and over protective boyfriend to go with her. Sometimes it became quite comical in that I would start to help the ubiquitous "her" put on the ski boot and the boyfriend would get all weird and be like "I'll do it..." (course then they often couldn't figure out how to unbuckle it or something...)
Okay, I'm done.
Good look. Proform rules.
