Bariloche Update
All is well in Bariloche.
Got bent again last night in rare form. Out again till 5am. Just plain silly. The people are awesome here, its hard not to have a great time. Juan, Pablo, Veronica, Liz, Paula, Roxanna, etc, etc. Truly a good vibe here, a good place to be.
Took a side trip before that to an area just down the road from town to check out some cool land...
The views were stunning. This is Cerro Lopez, and if you look carefully, you can see a refugio (hut) up there. Turns out that Bariloche has a whole system of summer time huts. Not like the Euro huts, but maybe like a budding system of Canadian huts, or CO 10th mountain huts. Only one open in the winter, but the wheels are turning in my head for a possible winter adventure some day.
Cerro Lopez (might ski in a couple days)

We may, however, take a break from destruction and take Artys advice to check out La Hoya for the next couple of days. Will report back then!Last edited by Yossarian; 09-11-2004 at 11:32 AM.

Oh my god! You guys are killing it! If La Hoya has snow, GO FOR IT! That place has an awesome ridgeline with a million lines and 0 people there EVER! The town at the bottom (Esquel?) is super friendly, but very small so act a little better than you would in Bariloche or LL - just a little

Arty, I wouldn't sweat it too much. I mean DudLe has been pumping Chillan for a few years running and I don't see a huge Alta-like powder craze there when it snows. Now take an even more remote Southern Argentine tiny ski area, with few accomodations/nightlife and no advertising or rep (a la LL) = I think you got the place to yourself most winters from here on forward.Originally posted by Arty50
