Mini TR : Best Father's Day Evarrr

I'm the proud dad of twin boys, one month shy of two years old. while the boys are a pure joy in my life, staying in any kind of riding shape involves getting creative with early morning or late evening ride times, sacrificing sleep, eating, and time with other riding buddies, including my wife. Father's day began with a surprise early morning blueberry pancake breakfast. Watching the clock knowing the boys would be waking any minute, my wife and I were enjoying some peaceful together time, when she proclaimed "in 30 minutes, your riding buddies are coming to take you to Tahoe, and I'll take the kids all day.. Happy Fathers Day!". SCORE.

Upon arrival, my pals strongly recommended against me taking my default steed, the Dean Colonel SS with a spicy 32-15 ratio, or at least drop the gearing a bit. After a half hearted search for some cogs, I figured I'd keep my normal gearing and worst case get an extra dose of suffering or a nice hike, which in my book somehow equates to a better ride day... whatever.

Not a lot of pics to share, but here are a few. I'm sure the tahoe locals know the area well, I'm not sure of the trail names, but our rough route was:
    1) start off of 89, just north of Alpine Meadows rd, and catch the switchback climb (part of Western States?) to Tahoe Rim Trail
    2) Play around on Tahoe Rim trail to Watson Lake area
    3) Backtrack some on TRT, then take a nice psuedo technical long descent to Tahoe City
    4) 8 or so miles back to car on the bike path along 89.

Suffice to say, I had a blast. Beautiful day, buff trails, great friends. Best Father's Day EVARR. Yes, my wife kicks ass.

First Pic: me sharing a venison stick with The Colonel at the top of the feeder trail to Tahoe Rim Trail proper

Second : pano from Watson Lake area, towards Lake Tahoe

Third : TRT scenic a few miles before connecting with the descent to Tahoe City.

A good friend would come bail you out of jail. A great friend would be sitting next to you saying..."but damn that was FUN"

    nice work Matt!

    thanks guys. Yes, 26er.

SB8's managed the decomposed granite up on the TRT pretty well, just very 'surfy' in the front, not very confidence inspiring I guess, but I suck at DH anyway. I did wish I had fresh tread on the rear, tho.

Will have to get some fresh treads to chase Tyrone, Madturtle Empty Beer and Nlytendone at TS100 this year
