    Jones Pass info?

Anybody got any info on Jones Pass? Open? Passable? Good coverage for skiing? Can ya make it up far in a Lesboru?

Just wonderin' what my plans should be for the next couple weeks of skiing, and a good Jones Pass is a good ol' time...

    Thanks in advance.

Was up there Saturday for some turns. Road was good to first short switchbacks right before treeline.

If anyone skis up there this week, keep an eye out for a camera. Mine had such a good time last week it decided not to come home.

Nice work, Steve. Got your message on the windshield. When I saw a piece of paper, I thought someone would be whining about where I parked, but it turned out to be anything but! PM incoming with an email address...

Have fun today. What we skied was extremely fun.

DeepDays ... sending media now ... we went up skied it yesterday and it was a lot better than I expected. Sorry, no pis/vids though. I brought my camera but had forgot to put the memory card back in it.

It was a pretty good length run with the narrower part at the bottom. The top was great and the bottom section was suprisingly fun too. In a few days that part will probably melt apart in a couple spots, though.

We might go back up tomorrow.

Well, it's that time of year again.

My fat, sea-level-residing self is headed out to Boulder/Front Range for a little summer ski next weekend, and I'm looking for something really easy-access, idiot-proof, and more exciting than St. Mary's glacier. That formula adds up to Jones Pass, but it would be great to know how much snow is left up there. Can anyone compare to the video above? Watching again, that line was skiable probably only for another week or two and then probably pretty discontinuous, so hopefully the dust hasn't pushed that point in time up too many weeks...

Any other suggestions for easy access (i.e., tennis shoes and bootpacking? I don't have skins...)? Anyone know anything about Fall River Road/Trail Ridge Road?

What kind of vehicle do you have access to?

If you have one with decent clearance you could head over to Aspen and ski Montezuma Basin.

Nah, it's really, really bad. I've been running and stuff for a couple weeks, but I'm pretty sure that now is about the worst shape I've been in since 8th grade (before I knew what fitness was).

Looks like Sunday's the day (got pretty solid plans now Friday and Saturday). I gotta be off the mountain in time to get to DIA for a 5:50 pm flight, so time will indeed be a limiting factor. I guess we should just get up to Jones and see what we can find, and in the very worst case scenario, we can just build a little mini-booter off the ridge there or something...

As of yesterday you can drive up and past the Butler turn off and up to where the road turns left crosses the creek in to the trees. So basically not out of the valley.

Trail is snow packed all the way up butler gulch. Snowmobiles up there today on Jones pass so I would assume the same there. Snow is about 2.5 ft deep in trees and thinner in wind blow areas above TL
