    Your favorite Neil Young album

Not the "best" Neil Young album, I don't care about what the best is. What's your favorite and why?

Been on a Neil kick as of late, and the only one I own () is Harvest. (I do have access to listen to all of them on Rhapsody, I just don't own them, and therefore have them on my iPod).

Then you already have my favorite. I listened a hole through that record long ago, and still know every note. Nowadays it's easier to clear teh dross, too--there's no reason at all to ever listen to A Man Needs a Maid, and the london Philharmonic, not at all.

And a great companion album to all that See the lonely boy out on a weekend stuff is Dylan's Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, and the variations on the Billy theme.

Some might recommend hiding the sharp knives if you listen to such things, but it's inspirational stuff to me, even 35 years since I first heard it . . .

that's hard to pick just one- he's got so many. But to narrow it down, pretty well any one his releases in the 70's are excellent, plus one from 1969, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere. I've owned everyone of these in one form or another except for Time Fades Away. Think my faves are Zuma and Rust Never Sleeps, followed by Tonight's the Night and Everybody Knows. I was really into On the Beach once upon a time.

don't forget Live at Massey Hall 1971!...i guess that would go under #4, but i would put it at either 1 or 2 for neil live.
Comes a Time is awesome Schralph and for country-ish yet different, American Stars 'n Bars. they both be in my 70's list.

Ragged Glory is the best of many.

It isn't necessary to imagine the world ending in fire or ice. There are two other possibilities: one is paperwork, and the other is nostalgia.

I'd only reverse the order - Tonight's the Night, then Zuma. Live at the Fillmore East and Ragged Glory are also great.

    Most underrated: Trans.

This Note's For You is almost forgotten, but great stuff in there.

Neil Young Solo, or Neil Young with others.
Anyway, two of my favorite all time albums are Buffalo Springfield and, of course, So Far.
For What it's Worth is one of the most profound songs, evah, and every song on So Far is phenomenal

Lately I've been listening to Arc or Arc Weld or Weld or whatever the hell that one is that's an hour of feedback based around Like A Hurricane. Mostly because that's one of the few Neil Young albums that I have on CD (My turntable isn't working so good).

^ dude, good call on Weld. Went straight to Fuckin Up and turned my amp volume to 11. I think the neighbors might call the cops on me, but it was worth it.

Just listening to Sirius Dylan Archive Sunday Night 4 Hour, and he played "Old Man". Jezuz, that's one of the great great songs of the last 40 years.

Like A Hurricane was a great song, but when they slow it way down and throw in a bunch of feedback and draw it out for an hour it's that much better. I used to do the same thing with Cortez The Killer back when I used to eat a lot of mushrooms.

His best Studio Album, IMHO, closely followed by Harvest.

I've seen the old man live about 15 times, yet the live album of his I find myself listening to the most is "Unplugged."

    So great.

    hahahahahahaha

admittedly, i dig the electro version of "Mr. Soul" and the "legend" surrounding that album (that Neil was unable to get out of his contract with Geffen so he started making albums that wouldn't sell in order to get dropped...or so the "legend" went at one time).
