04-05 Armada Product on Website
Check it out. I know that the skis have were mostly already revealed, but still cool.
That JP vs. Julien ski looks pretty sick.
191cm only, 126-103-116. Tail 10mm higher than the tip? Would this affect float at all?

For those too lazy to look for it.

"This is T-Hall's first signature model. Designed with a job-focused goal in mind, T wanted his ski to have the same sidecut and basic construction as the proven AR5, but wanted to change the flex pattern to help take his skiing to the next level. Tanner's own flex pattern is stiffer under boot for stability with softer flexing points in the tip and tail for nose and tail presses, butters, and whatever else he wants to do. He also wanted the factory to round his edges under boot so he won't catch and stay smooth on rails"
rounded edges underfoot? i hope he's not skiing in the east any time soon.

the tail won't affect float at all. i was just over at their warehouse yesterday to pick up a pair of last seasons skis (that got moved into hans's garage...) and they have something like 7500 pairs of new skis that they're starting to ship out to vendors. be on the lookout for them in the coming weeks...

I won't throw flippy spinny tricks in the backcountry on anything less than a 100mm+ waisted, 190cm+ ski.
I'd go Armada if they're weren't still working out their durability kinks.

they've worked out their durability issues this season, so this years skis will sort of balance out last seasons bad rep for bases/edges and whatnot.

^it's a secret....
think about it - stronger nylon topsheet, thicker bases and edges... if they haven't addressed last years problems, then something must be terribly wrong with their business strategy..."...And my quarter is ruined. My business lost about 200K in revenue.

phUnk what are you on now? I think armada just sold most of their skis last year because t hall uses them and little kids want to buy them to be cool.
I've heard good things about ARV's though.

last years 2nd and 3rd quality armadas sucked, no doubt. i'm picking up a pair of last seasons AR5s from them purely to screw around on. i don't expect them to last on rails, etc very long.
i've also heard the same thing. i'm still going through the little inner argument with myself as to if i should pick a pair up.I've heard good things about ARV's though.Last edited by The Jackamo; 09-04-2004 at 04:57 PM.

why else would a no-name company with a shitty durability reputation sell?

It's not a matter of decided whether or not to put "make a ski that delams" in the business plan. It's a matter of getting relatively lucky by getting a new group of people creating a new* ski design that gets all the variables right so it doesn't delam in the first generation.Originally posted by The Jackamo

eh so it's up in the air for this years skis. the thing i'm actually really curious about is that elan makes the things, so wouldn't any manufacturing defects show up in their skis, too?

^ gotcha.
i honestly believe that their skis will be better this year. what with beefed up edges and bases, as well as switching from sintered p-tex to ABS sidewalls. but that's just me.
edit - i love the phunkiness's avatar... simply mesmerizing..."...And my quarter is ruined. My business lost about 200K in revenue.

My ARV's are not too shabby, though they probably have less than 20 days on them. They had a couple topsheet chips on them, and the bases do seem to gouge easily. So if I break 'em do I get a pair of 05's? One year warranty though...

I'd have to say that the quality issue on this years skis are light years ahead of last seasons models. They are now being made in the Elan factory in Slovenia, not at a snowboard factory in Canada. I know its Elan, but they have always made great quality skis. The new T Hall is pretty impressive in Quality, and the ARVs are so much better looking and just feel better than last years. The bases actually look like they were stoneground, and not run over some cheap belt.
