Devo,
Great find that you got there! That kayak will open up some new opportunities for you. Enjoy the new ride.

Nice! If you wanted to, could you stand in that?

I love fishing out of my kayak. peaceful and lets you get into spots motorized boats can't get to. Plus it is fun when a whopper starts pulling you around. Invest in a small anchor for fixing the above, plus preventing too much drift in the wind.

Is fly casting and fishing while sitting in a kayak really much different than fishing from a belly boat? I was buggin my wife about getting a sit-on-top kayak. Sierra Trading Post in Cheyenne has amazing deals in-store right now. They have the long lake style ones for like $400 new.

If you can cast from a canoe, you would have no problem with the stand on top type. My buddies down here all use the Hobie pedal type. No paddle needed, and you can really haul ass around. Outriggers hook up easily, but I don't think they are really necessary on the flats. It's not like you will be casting in 1-2 ft waves anyway.

I fish from a sit in kayak. Spin and bait casting are no problem. Not sure about fly. I'll be trying sometime soon though.

I don't plan on trying to stand and fish in this thing. Took it out today for the first time and trolled on one rod and tried casting a surface plug with another. It was really windy, so I didn't stay out very long. But it was enough to see how it's going to be. Casting was no problem. I can't wait for the fishing to really start around here.
