Almost got a ride in one of these.

Vacationing back home in CT. My sister's boyfriend's dad works at Consumer Reports test track. They had the Ford GT there on friday. We missed them testing the car by a couple minutes. Aparently, they got it up to about 150 on the track, and ran out of room. It is an old converted drag strip.

His dad was planning on taking us all for a spin in it. Unfortunately, when the test engineers got done with it, the clutch was toast. I did see it fired up and taken out to the track. It blasted off like a rocket. But then he came back when he realised it wasn't working right. Oh well.

Sweet ride though. If you have $140,000 I highly recommend it.

13 minute video. If ya never seen Top Gear videos, they are shot amazingly well. 66 mb download, but worth it if a car buff.

Good to see that Top Gear piece again, particularly when Clarkson runs out of petrol and cant get in the thing (well he is 6' 5''). Regular Sunday night viewing over here.

Roo knows those guys. Motoring journalism is a small industry in the UK.

I love the bit when they start making fun of the fuel economy.

Host 1: So the mileage you got was?
    Host 2 (quietly): 4
    H1: 4 mpg?
H2: Yes, but Ford says if you drive it nicely, you can get 12 mpg
H1: Yes, but who can drive that (points at car) "nicely"?
    H2: Well, ummmm
H1: So at 4 mpg, how far can you drive on a tank of gas?
    H2: 75 miles
H1: And the Top Gear offices are how far from your house?
    H2 (almost inaudible): 76 miles

GT built a pretty sweet kit car of that automobile. He's had it completed for probably 10 years now. It definitely turns heads.
