Thumbs up Shhhhhhhh.....Smith Triad Goggle Secret

Being a huge fan of the unparalleled quality of Smith and a big whore (good friend at S), I have been privy to test many snowsport goggles in the past four years. Well a problem arose because my all time favorite was the Triads that were around about 3 years ago and have since been discontinued. These are the outrigger ones without spherical lenses, a la the Sinners cover.

Well I was telling homeboy that I enjoy the new Triad Prodigy and all, but nothing seems to rival the fit and feel of those old Triads. The new Prodigy is SUPER NICE with more space and better perperial vision than anything out there, but just doesn't fit my particular mug as well as I'd like. I wanted the old Triads!

Turns out you can still get them...via Smith Sport Snowmobile department. They have more foam on them and a helmet-only strap, but they're the good ol' Triads and are now available in schweeet color schemes. Just got a pair for Arg and I am stoked to have that fit back.

    Just an FYI....

The Warp TI motocross ones look to be the same as well, no?

What's the difference between a moto-x goggle and a snow goggle?

Exactly. No difference except with 'biler goggles there's more foam and a different strap.

Moto/MTB googles have some rubber-ish material on the inside of the strap to hold onto the helmet. This is a good feature in my opinion.

Sweet find, They also have some nice lenses that aren't usually offered like the blue one, in thewarpstar models.

Also dig the fact you can get a mirror lens for $40 less.

Oh along your gear whoring did you get to try out the Prdigy Turbo Fan? Need to find a hook up for a pair of those. Pricey.

keep in mind that the lenses are different...it is a single lens, not a double lens like most ski goggles are; they are not vented unless you get the "airflow" models, and the lens is made of a stronger polycarbonate for some impact protection.

But otherwise the frame is the exact same, while the strap is gargantuan (designed to be worn around moto-x helmets), and will only fit on helmets.

Rev, I posted a question awhile ago somewhere around here...do you have any idea where one could buy the Regulator, non-spheric flat lens in a rose platinum color? The site (www.smithsport.com/orders) has them available only in clear, rose, and amber.

I think a single lense will hose you instantly with fog.

there's no way they'd produce a single lense goggle for snowmobiling.

Other than the fit of the flat lens, is there any other reason why you dislike the spherical lenses? I've found there is a very noticeable improvement in my vision with the spherical lenses as compared to the flats. Personally, the fit of the old huge outriggers sucked on my head, as they made the goggles really wide and didn't evenly disperse the pressure. But to each his own...

Why not simply put the spherical lense in the old flat lense frames? The shape of the lense doesn't seem that different from the flat to the spherical. I have the old outrigger Triad frames and need to buy a new lense... however... none of the moto or sno-mo lense seem up to snuff in comparison to the snow specific lenses.
