I like that there is an article about Shane in the paper. What I don't care for is that there is no mention of Gaffney. How can you have an article about one of the Dynamic Duo,& never mention the other?
    Calmer than you dude

And here we are again. Can't believe it's been four years. RIP Shane.
We heard you in our twilight caves, one hundred fathom deep below, for notes of joy can pierce the waves, that drown each sound of war and woe.

A video I created 4 years ago shortly after Shane passed away. A truly inspiring person that I looked up to very much.

You know the situation, something a bit steeper or bigger than you'd normally huck or drop in to. You feel like you've left your balls in your mummys handbag. Its playing over and over in your mind "shall I, shall I not, shall I, shall I not"
My next thought is walls of freedom, (my 1st encounter with Shane and watching him skiing) some how the thoughts change I get my balls out my mums hand bag and huck it or rip it,
So in a round about way Shane skis with me everyday I'm out on the mountain, that's how someone I've never met inspires me,
It also made a mark on me with his gesture in immersion, spending the day with the ill kid, whom I've since discovered they became good friends,
What a man he was and still is,
i dont kare i carnt spell or youse punktuation properlee, im on a skiing forum

I find myself singing "Jukebox Hero" to myself in the same type of situations.

A moment of silence on the mountain today, before pole whacking a ridge line and dropping in on something rockered.
RIP Shane, and thanks for all that you brought us while you were around.

Whenever I'm about to drop into a sweet pow run and the thought crosses my mind to noodle a bunch of turns, I hear Shane's voice echoing forever in my mind now, "you turn when stuff gets in your way" or... "just ski down there and jump off of somethin for cryin out loud". It really is so much more fun that way, in no small part because of the way he pushed ski evolution. It makes me super grateful for the many gifts he gave the modern skier. For sure the ski world will never be the same.

I read this thread on my phone today standing at a quick mart to get a sandwich for lunch. Full biz casual dress with a wool coat after a meeting.

Exited the store and promptly looked at the first guy I saw walking towards the store and said "I am the BEST skier on this MOUNTAIN!" I calmly turned and walked away, I think he may be still standing there with that confused look.

Shane was a hero with balls the size of Texas. Hope the movie portrays him for who he truly was, a guy who went at it and didn't give one fuck. He LIVED more in his few short years than any of us jongs hope to in our lifetime. RIP!
    Best Regards,

I feel the same way about Newt. I will never forget about that guys love for the mountains and the people that inhabit them. A once in a life time personality for sure. RIP fallen mountain town folk freaks! There are not enough of you in this world and it sucks to have you gone.

Remember to say "Thanks Shane" when you're slarving a huge McConkey Turn on your rockered powder riding tools.
