    Comi-Kazi mount: Z12ti or Barons?

I concede it could be considered oxymoronic to put 12 din bindings on these skis.

Picked up a pair of the TGR hard tailed Comi-Kazis in the Moment fire sale.
They are being shipped to Jackson, and I will mount them up with either Barons or Z12ti's.
I'm leaving for Jackson tomorrow and will have both bindings with me.
I haven't had much time to search, but I am aware of general TGR disdain for Z12 toe-pieces.

I'm 5'9" 170 lbs, 175 cm 75 kg for you metric types, and I've skied 12 din binders before with no problems.
I'm a fairly aggressive skier, but don't do big hucks, maybe 5-10 footers here and there.
I know Bossass had Z12ti's on his Comi's and liked them, and I think he's bigger than I am.

The light weight of the Z12ti's is attractive, but the Barons would allow me to skin with these monsters.
I don't tour often less than 10% of the time, but the ability to skin for pow with these boys is desirable.

My other skis are 183 soft bros with Dukes and 183 Katanas with Marker 14.0's.

I live in Chicago, so I am limited to 2 pairs of skis when I travel to the mountains.
Up until now, it's been BRO and Katana.

    Whay say ye maggot collective?

If you may tour on them I don't see why it would hurt to put the Barons on them. On deep days if I'm breaking trail on a traverse (or if I get too low and miss a traverse and have to bust trail out of a low spot or something), the ability to free my heel, even without skins, is a big plus.

Aisle donkey is the term you were looking for.

FWIW, this morning marked the maiden skinning voyage of my Moment Extra-Stiff Comis/Duke setup... they don't tour at all like dynawhompers, but this morning wasn't about setting speed records... just the fun of trying out a touring setup that is completely different. Mount them with Barons... there are some great deals on them, out there.

    tour=barons
not tour z12ti= light as FUCK
Do I detect a lot of anger flowing around this place? Kind of like a pubescent volatility, some angst, a lot of I'm-sixteen-and-angry-at-my-father syndrome?

    fuck that noise.

For clarification, I have both bindings in hand already.
I haven't thought about benefit of freeing heel to break trail, get out of low spot.
Could this possibly damage the Baron (I'll have to check on my Duke/Bros)?

RTR, cool to hear you are on a similar setup.
With the CK's at 10.5 lbs, setup would be 16 lbs with barons (not a huge penalty for ability to skin).

Z12ti's are almost 1.5 lbs lighter than Barons (3.7 vs. 5.3 lbs).
So vpm, you're right, Z12's are muy light.

If skinning (i.e. what they're designed for) doesn't damage them, then why would doing the same motion without skins hurt them?

I envision side-stepping with the heel free as possibly subjecting more lateral force on the binding than skinning would.
Do you tele exclusively? Is your experience with traversing in telemark bindings the main reason for the suggestion?
