I wonder what came first, Robert Plant's wail in "Immigrant Song" or Peter Hecht's french horn wail in "Ride In The Sky". Both came out in 1970.
Lucifer's Friend's first album is fucking awesome.Putting the "core" in corporate, one turn at a time.

I've been listening to Patrick Sweaney for a while now, this guy is amazing he plays a very wide range of music but all of it can be appreciated. He played in SLC this April and absolutely tore it up.

I don't know why I never gave these guys any notice until just now. They define the genre before there was even a genre to define! Lemmy is only part of the story...

iirc, he got kicked out for doing too many drugs. imagine that.
i used to love to jam out to space ritual back in the day (high school). still a pretty solid album if you like drone space metal.
if you hadn't heard of hawkwind (or listened to them), have you listened to gong, captain beyond, nektar, or ozric tentacles? some of my favorite older prog bands.

I have heard of them (any Motörhead fan has heard of them!) but aside from a couple songs on some compilation discs I never gave them a serious listen. Then I came across "In Search Of Space" and "Space Ritual" and holy shit... that's exactly the stuff I like to play. I could drone on with riffs like that for ever. Fu Manchu's "Saturn III" comes to mind, not to mention Metalmücil's version of Neil's "Down By The River".
Post up some starter songs of the bands you just mentioned. I've never heard of any of them.
