Thread: Losing pressure in rear shock, help

I have a Fox R rear shock. For some reason, it loses pressure every ride. I usually pump it up to about 150-160 psi, by the next ride it is down to 100-120 psi.

Any ideas on what the hell is wrong with it and what are my options? send it back to Fox, local rebuild?

Seems like a hit or miss problem with the Float-R shock:

I can think of a couple possibile causes:
-Scratches on the shock stanchion?
-Cracked or partially blown seal(yeah, yeah insert the seal sex humor here)?

most likely a bad seal. get it replaced or PUSHed.

fyi, take some silicone spray and lube it up and compress it into the chamber. do this often, especially in the off season (if you have one) to keep the seals from drying out.

had a buddy with the same problem. he sent it back to Fox and they did a great job getting him fixed up. periodic problem with these shocks, but otherwise great product

My friend had the same shock with the same problem. He called them, they sent him a new seal, he fixed it himself in 10 min. That would be your best bet.

Ride a hardtail! problem solved.

thanks for the replies. I will call them tomorrow. I looked up the warranty info and it only covers bikes bought in the last year, mine is 14 months old unfortunately. Money is at a minimum so I would definitely prefer to fix myself if possible or have someone locally help me out (nudge, nudge Brady??)

buy a rebuild air kit and try it your self.
Have problems call fox or write me, I've done mine and others a few times.
