Longshot: IL Mags...Lodging Help?
So I'm taking the PSIA Level 1 exam next weekend feb 6 and 7 on the beautiful shores of the Mississippi at Chestnut Mountain just south of Galena, IL and am looking for a place to stay. The lodging options in the area are somewhat limited (but not on price!). Not exactly the area that most people are in these days but perhaps there's somebody out there in the area.
23 yo male, clean, good cook/can bring party favors
Anyone?

Me = born an Iowa mag...originally from Dubuque. As for lodging options...if you are looking for any sort of action head over to Dubuque (about 30-40 minutes to Chestnut). You could stay in Galena but it'll be more expensive and there's really nothing to do. Grand Harbor downtown or the Holiday Inn across from the Five Flags center. There's a bitchin' new casino (Diamond Jo) in the Grand Harbor. Probably can find a good deal b/c it's not summertime.
Bars = Lot One, Bricktown, Bartinis, Gin Rickeys, bars in the new Diamond Jo
Food = Star Brewery, Mario's, Shot Tower (unreal Spinach pizza)
These are all Dubuque spots. Good luck.

Just get drunk at the bar in the lodge after with all the other PSIA types (lookers left side of the upstairs bar) and then sleep in your car in the parking lot. If you have more money check with your instructor friends for a hookup - they have bunkrooms for instructors and usually bunkrooms are available right at the resort.
I'll be up there skiing tele on sickter birds prolly on Saturday.

I'm sure you can stay at my parents' house if you really want....but they're just about 100miles due east of Chesnut.
Still remember when my friend "wouldn't stop" coming down the alpine slide there and left with a broken arm back on our 7th grade class trip to Grant's home. Good work bud.

I took the groms there yesterday, it was a nice day! The park is pretty good and a couple of the kids were throwing backs and 720's. Making the best of what they got!
