Woodsy, Ice, Pinner .. The new Motown: James Hunter

his album The Hard Way kills it start to finish. A blender full of a mixture of Ray Charles, the Temps, Curtis Mayfield and others. Groovy, rootsy, soul that instantly makes you think of the 60's and all the cool sounds that came out of that time period and earlier.

One of the best albums I've heard for a while.
    Enjoy

The first time I heard him, I thought I was listening to a 30 year old song. I couldn't believe it. Definately worth checking out.

I'm reasonably certain that I used to see this guy playing at local pubs and clubs back in the olde country. We're from neighboring towns.

    He sure can sing.

Seems to be making a good fist of sucess after years of hard work.

Damn that sounds good, kind of a little James Brown, a little Otis Redding, maybe a Little Sam 'n' Dave...love the horns too.

Sam Cooke, baby. He even gives him a shout-out in this little documentary. Warning: crazy disconnect between singing and speaking voice ahead:

    Thanks, Paintrain - this guy's a keeper.
