hehehe with those lazy italians you never know
it was already supposed to open in december 2003! Anyway now looks like everything is ready. Only the rope is still missing. The place will never be the same. This is not an evil per se, though.

there will still be plenty of this about b/c it's not all obvious and the route of the lift is generally skied out pretty quickly anyways. for the people of the town, it's progress. i have to admit that i'm a bit bummed about it and purposefully went there twice last season b/c i knew it'd be the last time to see exactly that way...the way skiing used to be...an experience.

I haven't been to the Italian side really before, but I'm really looking forward to my trip this Feb. The Gressoney-Alagna route of the past looked a bit awkward (from the map I've seen), especially for a group with mixed ability...

Might even get a bit of heli in if the price is right; though if not at least my soon-to-be investment in skins will be exponentially worthwhile...

you might heli also from Alagna. Check for adequate snow, though. Feb sometimes is too early. If fine, many spots on the monte rosa are OK for a group with mixed ability

wind is actually a bigger problem than snow for the heli conditions, it can produce some funky conditions. the drops are at very high altitude on glaciers.

The run towards Alagna from salati is propably a red/black (usa/can) run.
But just because of the moguls.
After snow it is an easy and nice run without any technical dificulties. Coming back to Gressoney side from Alagna (Punta Indren - Lago Di Gabiet) is not techically dificult either on good snow. If the snow is hard, it´s just crappy skiing.

Via Strolengber: Short sections of 40´,after that some 500m of 35´(constant pitch, ) . The only problem is the route findin in bad visibilty, or avalanche danger from PT.Strolemberger.

Via Eagle Couloir: Traverse for 1km, short section of skiing moguls in a couloir for 200m, after that some mellow skiing in good surroundings. Routefinding and hazard of avalanches from the upper slopes under certain snowconditions.

Yup.Waiting for the new lift to open up like...(insert something here). Not that it opens up any new skiing, but mainly you have a somekind of way to run couple of laps on some good lines towards Alagna, without having to take the Puta Indren lift.

And you dont have to walk up from Alagna side to Salati because the liftboys was to busy sipping crappuchino that they "forgot" to put up the sign "Cabina Indren e Chiuso". Fkuk.

Locals are quite eager to see that lift to open up too. Could pep up the business especialy on the Alagna side. The bad winters of 01-02 and 02-03 have scared of the bums, because on a bad snow year (or a windy season) you were stuck for good on the alagna side.. Not much to do or ski if such a situation comes up..

Ah, shite. 4 months and counting before the next possible trip to the hoods. And yes. I should post pics from last summers trip to aosta valley. My skis traveled 6000km+ to ski one puny line in gressoney... Sad...Well not sad...Quite nice actually.
I have never been good with facts.
