POV on FCP Need Some Help
I just started editing my POV footage (AVI) on Final Cut Pro (v. 6.0) and I am having quite a few quality issues. The footage is much lower quality after importing it to FCP than the raw files and when I export a movie the quality is still quite bad. I am also getting jumpiness and some frames are just turning black.
What can I do to Improve the quality and what compression settings would work well for full quality videos and for videos I want to put up on vimeo?
I am also getting annoyed at having to constantly render the video to see what I am working on, how could I fix this?

How does the quality reduce, do you get horizontal lines? I had better quality with my old single chip camcorder running the helmet cam than I do now with my 3 chip camcorder, strangely.
As for compression, I just saved at full quality as a quicktime file, then compressed with VLC for vimeo. I'm using final cut HD.

You installed Perian correct?
What are your timeline settings? Do you have your POV.1 set to record at the highest setting? Depending on your timeline settings, I would drop them in and export a quicktime movie using Apple Pro Res and then import those files. Remember, whatever codec your timeline is set to, if the clips don't match you will have to render them.

^Good thing you deleted the Animation codec line. It is about 8G for 5 minutes. While any real editor would have plenty of drive space for this, if the person asked this question, I wouldn't consider them an editor.

I am not a real editor (recreational, for now) and am working off a macbook without any fancy schmancy peripherals. Soulds like I need to convert the files prior to importing them to FCP. Thanks for the help so far. Anyone have any guidance on compression settings?
