Northern lights over Turnagain Arm last night...this capture was from a timelapse sequence of shots, kinda stoked on how the traffic lights moving back & forth turned out

We've won it. It's going to get better now. You can sort of tell these things.

Back to the image. The interesting thing is that you focused on the flowers that were not the brightest, nor contrasted/isolated against the sky. I like the image - I also wonder how it would feel with a different subject focus.

I'm glad winter finally showed. I've even been getting in a tour here and there over the last couple of weeks. This weekend looks to be some good spring skiing. Blasphemy on this site I know, but I'm kinda happy for spring. If it's cold and blustery and I'm not out for a tour, I'm stuck in the house with the dogs as it's not super convenient to get the baby out in 35 degrees and 35 mph winds. 60 degrees and open trails in the foothills make for much easier and fun daddy duty.

I have a few different comps on the computer. I wanted to take a look at this one first. Maybe I'll see what else I have, I'm sure I isolated some buds against the sky. It was the middle of the afternoon and we were sitting outside enjoying those nice warms temps with the baby. There's obviously a little broken light on the flowers. Rather than highlight those petals and have darker shaded buds, I chose to use the flash and go for flowers that would hopefully give me a more even exposure. I felt the flash gave a bright, airy, spring feel and highlight recovery would do wonders with the bokeh-d broken light on the other petals. In this particular comp, I liked the 3 layers of focus and I liked the sticks radiating from the main branch. I also liked the blue background but wanted to fill the frame with an abstract-y pattern.

People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

Nice shot vanisle, where was that taken?

One happy dog from yesterday's shed hunting outing. Now if I could only train them to sniff them out I'd be golden.

We went shed hunting on Thursday after laying out a block at work and my partner found a pristine 5 point elk rack on the skull with a bullet hole through its nose....
