I would've liked to submit this one to the sky MPC, as it was taken on the last day of it, but I didn't get out of the bc until today.

Who more scared me or s/he?

People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

Saw this sunset on my drive home tonight. Only had my nifty fifty with me. No filters, tripod or anything. So I made a full on surrealist HDR shot. Because, why not. I think this may be my first one ever.

And one that's a little less overworked:

Phildo, great shots! On that first one the grain in the lower right is a bit distracting. Might be a better shot if you crop it out? You know what they say, the best camera is the one you have with you!

Thanks man! Yeah, agreed on the grain. Thanks for the feedback.

ETA: Swapped the photo out above for the new one.

I feel a bit left out not posting in this thread anymore.
But great shots all around. Lonnie, edgnar (loving the re-edits), mtcham, Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer, From the NEK, Phildo_Baggins, HotDiggity (love the shot -- so many interesting things going on!).

Went on a family camping trip this weekend. I got out to shoot for just about an hour. While I came back with this shot...

I didn't come back with the lens hood to my Zeiss 24-70mm f/2.8. Pricing them on the Sony website $250, with 3rd party vendors about 1/2 that (if you can find one).
This is the worst pain EVER!

Just got back from a 12-day trip to Iceland where I took a TON of pictures, but I thought I'd post this one here for now. I'll put together a proper TR once I'm done editing everything.

Thanks guys. I think I actually like this one better since it's not the "iconic" angle on Kirkjufell and offers a little something different:

Looking forward to the TR. I like this first one better because of the curves of the stream after the fall, and the very green grass in the foreground.

Did you happen to see this guy while you were there? https://www.flickr.com/photos/baldheretic

I met him on the Victoria Clipper ferry a couple years ago. Nice guy and has some really good photos. You'll have to check out this Iceland photos on Flickr. He was just there, too!

Here's my contribution for the day. Did some hiking in the Paradise area in Mount Rainier National Park. The flower display right now is amazing.

Nope, didn't run into him... although it would have been nice to use that 4x4 he has in some of his pictures.

A few more from the beginning parts of the trip:

    Budirkirkja (Black Church):

Sunset at 11:00pm over the Westfjords (taken from Stykkisholmur):

Lava moonscape on the Snaefellsness Peninsula:

And one of a small church just down the road from a house we rented, about 30 miles east of Vik:

Been a while since I've been in this thread.
