Not quite sure how this happened but I believe it is due to sun flare.
Shot the eclipse in Lake Powell after getting to our campsite via kayaks. Super awesome and we were the only ones for miles.

Another win.

People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

Great shots on this page! Love the Banff (time2climb), flight (OverTurn), star trails (outabounds), kayak (splitter), stream (splitter), and all the eclipse shots.

My wife took this one of me swimming at Canadian Masters Nationals in Kelowna, BC last weekend.

Not a bad spot to spend a few days, either...

A couple of my eclipse shots. We had some cloud cover all afternoon. These were the only two I got that I liked.

No fancy filters or tricks for me, just stopped down to about f40 on my tamron 18-270. It actually proved a useful way to look at the eclipse with out going blind too.

@mtcham, your bird shots are crisp. really good work. what shutter are you shooting at to get something that clean with I'm guessing a nice, loooong lens?
and in that case, ISO?
bit of a re-do, but iconic-ish and I liked the sky contrasted with the electric blue of the lights...

Thanks Chad-these were shot between 1/1250 and 1/2000 sec at an iso of 400. I can't handhold the 500 much below 1/1250. All are shot wide open at f4.5. Exif is always on the flickr.
Love the Reno neon!

From the Indian Peaks Wilderness on Saturday around 10,500 feet. Too much snow higher up to hike up the trail.
