Hop, the route in that shot is Caffeine Free 5.10a. You ever get to hit that?

Doesn't ring a bell, but it does bring back the memories of the FKNA rope swing that you can set up from that big block that you were probably standing on when you took the picture. I have similar shots on BW film looking down-gully of my friends climbing Vomit Launch and Chicken McNuggets.

Big Blue... damn, that's a pretty bad ass rappel. I didn't notice the anchor, bummer I didn't see anyone using it.

Yeah, the view from up there is a little different than it is from down below. Nice picture by the way. Here's the view from up top (not my picture):

And here's my contribution to the thread:

I think the end of Heaps is 2 big rappels, something like 450' down. The last rap is 90m and requires passing knots while dangling far above the lake. I hear most parties carry 2 60m ropes and stash the 3rd at the bottom. Rad photos.

Three raps actually. There's a 50 ft. rap down steep rock to the top of the vertical face, then a 150 ft. rap down to the top of the overhang. From there it's 300 ft. down to the bottom. As far as rope goes it's a lot easier to just use a 300 ft. rope. Some people will stash rope at the bottom, but sometimes ropes get stolen from down there, so not the best plan. We just carried two 300 ft. ropes. Of course we're using 8mm spectra cord so it's not that heavy. Tell you what, hanging 300 ft. off the deck on a single strand of 8mm cord is an interesting feeling.

That second shot is pretty cool Wes. I like the rooster tail effect with the rubber.

My orders came through. My squadron ships out tomorrow. We're bombing the storage depots at Daiquiri at 1800 hours. We're coming in from the north, below their radar.
