More Aurora Borealis action last night. An active solar storm brought the Aurora very far south between Helena and Great Falls. Kp-5.33, Proton Density-5, IMF-6, Solar Wind-600. This far south your naked eye does not pick up the color like a camera sensor does. You will see the glow and the streaks and curtains but not the color. 4/15/2015. Someday I'd love to see this in AK or in the far north.

mtcham, your aurora shots are outstanding!
And Lonnie, ditto on your eclipse composite -- fantastic work.

It figures that all year I waited for aurora in NZ but got skunked by weather almost every time; and then the evening that I leave, they get three consecutive nights (and running) of fantastic aurora displays.

At least I got to shoot the Chicago skyline. Experimented with doing a stitched panorama for a cityscape. 11-shot panorama, each one at 200mm:

Thanks Fuzz! Great job on the Pano. Too bad you missed them at home. I'm trying to figure out if I really got lucky or if these are present more often and I just haven't been tuned in.

Supermodel-google aurora borealis, there is a ton of good reading on them.

Been out the last 3 nights and am a bit sleep deprived so this may be the last one..... unless that kp# hits 6 or 7.

Lonnie, yours shows as protected by owner.

Went to San Francisco for a few days to visit friends and managed to get to Marin Headlands for sunset -- what great views!

Few from Key West last week. The sun sets over a island this time of year so its harder to get good snaps.

People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.
