I left the bike at home today to go hiking. It was pretty cloudy, so we couldn't see the mountains, but the destination was pretty nice.

Was down in Portland for a swim meet this weekend and had some time to venture out to the Columbia River Gorge.

Went camping last night, so of course it rained. Was hoping for a really iconic view of Mt. Hood, but the weather didn't cooperate. We did get some cool low clouds, though.

Thanks man! That is Matt Cooke from Boulder. I sent him the pic this afternoon and he loves it. Conditions we sooo brutal for the riders but kind of a dream session for this hack photog. I have loads more pictures from that day and up on Monarch but no time to go through them at the moment.
This isn't eligible for the 'Trail' MPC by a couple days.

I was in Chicago this weekend for the Big Shoulder 5K swim in Lake Michigan.

It might look nice in the photo, but holy shit was the water cold. That and the overall rough conditions made it a very difficult swim this year.

People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.
