Second that Root, twas mighty nice today. A few runs over in "the trees" were dope. I would definitely say it was more on the dense side than not, but its what we needed to set up the base. Should be jiggy times ahead if we continue with this weather pattern.

Root - you got snowtires on da pickup? I had the wagon w/ snowtires and was still getting sideways.

Despite what might think we do actually have cameras here in W. MT, but for some reason most of the mags here don't take pics while shredding the Bowl. I'm just as guilty, but here's a few pics from last year just to get some pics in this damn thread.

    Last years 18" dump

Just here to say that it was dope today. I only got to ski in the am, but I'm not complaining. Deep in the bowls with only one core shot. Rinse and repeat tomorrow.

    surrounded by dumb people

    Hey folks!
take a look at what this fella has to say about the mag life in missoula!

Ok, is everyone in Montana a severe alchoholic or drug user? I have been here a year and EVERYONE I have met whiether it be in a church, bar, or even my kids' schools are either doing pot, meth, coke, or have to drink at least every weekend if not every night. Is there anyone out there that is not a dumb ass? Just wondering what this world has come to.........

i dont want to step on anybodies toes or anything! Sorry Rasputin!
but i just found this posted in rants and raves on craigslist.
And u thought i was bad?

Oh yeah this winter is bomber so far. Lets keep the faith, cause i almost lost mine!

West and East bowls opened, and it was good. Bomber day at the Bowl. I got there at noon and skied mostly untracked, knee to thigh deep until I left at three.

The way the wind was blowing, and the snow was falling, I expect it will fill in nicely overnight.

While I do have a camera, I prefer to foster the illusion that we're all just exaggerating and that the Bowl never gets any snow. Nothing to see here folks just move along.

    Fail.

Reports of over reporting are grossly exaggerated.

I sure hope so, but the only way Brad would not do that is if indeed folks are brushing off the platform???? I don't disagree with under-reporting by employees reporting down to Mr phone sex voice. Hopefully my light duty will return to normal this winter, and I'll be able to see first hand how the reporting has changed in the past few years.

I can answer that...yes, since last time Snowbowl had a dump like that was probably in 97. Where is CountryFunk when you need him, anyways?

In other news, if any of you Missoula mags are looking for something to do tomorrow night, we're having a party. I ain't posting the address here, but shoot me a PM if you are interested, I'll send directions (it's near the Good Food Store).

The board at the top of Griz is from later in the morning, once ski patrol gets to the top and calls the lifties with current conditions.

So, I was riding the Griz chair with FOS (after the LaVelle lift was closed due to high winds), when we heard a loud crack. Then we saw a forty foot tree falling toward the lift. I said something like "Hold on tight, it's gonna hit!", and watched the tree fall on the lift cable heading downhill. The tree bounced, then was leaning/hooked on the cable, and then we went past it. FOS turned to see the oncoming chair bash into it, and then another I guess. I wasn't looking, I was quite content to hug the chair, and wait to see what happened next. The tree fell to the ground, the lift delivered everyone unscathed, and then they closed the lift.

The tree was a live one, and was about fourteen inches in diameter where the trunk snapped, about five feet above the snow. It was a bit breezy at the Bowl today. It snowed some too.

    That is all.

Glad the lift survived. Here is the tree this morning (they have since cut it up and confined it to a little pen, very un-Snowbowl like).

In other news...today was one I will remember for a LOOOOOONG time. So fucking good. The best 6" I have ever had...Mrs. Rootskier, too.

It was completely windbuffed out, and first tracks down West Bowl blew my fucking mind, easily in my top 5 runs anywhere, ever. So good, from creamy windbuff on the Ridge, off the edge to thigh deep whiteroom blower in the Bowl. So good.

The debris in the shot below is from wind blowing tree parts around...not shit sticking through. The coverage is near complete. So good. So good. Did I mention how fucking good it was today? So good.

    Mrs Rootskier again.

    Fuck yeah, 2009.

I also was amazed at the timely response.

I too am dumbfounded, one of the best days ever, many a seasoned Bowlhead were at a loss for words after the day. Friends who have 3000 days under their belt were saying the snow was perfect.

I'll be looking back at everyone from the first chair tomorrow.

Oh,and BTW, I found rocks, I'm skilled that way.
