    px12 vs s912

Is one more worth it over the other. About to make a purchase and am curious about your opinions.

    Thanks

If you have to ask, you probly won't notice the difference. Just go skiing. Fuck.
We heard you in our twilight caves, one hundred fathom deep below, for notes of joy can pierce the waves, that drown each sound of war and woe.

    clamps

never had a problem with either. They are both a pretty bulletproof design. And, as stated above, if you have to ask, I'm going to say that either will be more than fine for you.

I found the looks to have more elastic travel and forwards pressure. After nearly breaking both tibias using non-releasing 912's ten years ago (didn't release rearward at DIN 8), I've had nothing but luck with P12's and PX12s.

Having used both a bunch, I fucking hate the px12's (technically I'm on rossi's). The heel engagement isn't as positive as the solly's - sometimes I feel like I'm in them, only to pop out on the first turn. Clicking into the heel on the rossi's feels like stepping in warm butter, whereas clicking into the heel on the Solly's is like "ka-chunk."

Those both seem to release when they should though.

I thought the P series turn table heels were a soft engagement. I used to have some and they were how you described (although I never came out of them unexpectedly) and that the newer PX heels were a positive "click" to engage.

    after riding both:

912 i shattered and also had some pre-release issues with. Looks, have yet to prerelease and i feel a lot less play in the binding, although they do not clamp down as definitively as the 912s.

i would never take the 912s over the looks, but i guess it all comes down to personal preference and my one bad blowout of a pair of the 912s.

I blew up some p14 toes (actually rotated the entire toe pieces completely vertical and they stuck that way permanently - dont ask). I have pre-released from poorly adjust solly's before, but never had trouble with solly's that have the correct forward pressure, toe cup and toe height set.

If you are a weight weenie, get the 912's, otherwise get which ever binding is cheaper. They are both regarded as very good bindings in the context of plastic 12 din clamps.

I've never been in the older P-series, so I can't offer a comparison. Maybe the px's are more "clicky," but they're still a lot less clicky than any of my salomons.

I did this to old gen Rossi Axial12s. ...and cracked a wing in the process. Was a high speed blow up though and they were cranked.

In general though have had more luck with durability of Look (Rossi) v. Sallymon.

I'm a fan of the PX series. Never skied a 912, but I'm glad to stick with what I've got since it works well for me.

That is the best answer you are going to get. Both bindings are good.

That is part of the release function and the toe can move like that. To get it back to normal, just lower the DIN to 5 and then carefully snap it back. It will snap quick once you start it so fast fingers...
