    Dynafit FT12 plastic tab broken!!!

Just received FT12's from the group buy today. So light and rad!!!!! mad props to the organizers sfotex, ruletherock, and skifishbum for putting this on!I pulled them out of the box, and as I was holding, much to my surprise, the plastic tab aft of the crampon mount snapped off!! ARRRRGHH! I checked the other binding for reference, which had been picked up literally two times, and it looks like it's about to go too with some stress fractures on an already-thin piece of plastic. For reference, this is the piece I'm referring to (circled in red):

And here's some pics of the never-seen-snow subject:

    And here it is reassembled...

So, am I screwed? Should I send it back to Dynafit? Is it fine to mount as is? This looks like a purely-asthetic piece, and I still don't know what its purpose is, but I'd rather check before mounting. Lou at Wild snow had the following to say,

"Most obvious difference with FT12 is the fiberglass shell that’s molded over the regular plastic toe and heel bases. This stuff no doubt adds some strength (especially to the plastic tab just behind the crampon mount, which does tend to snap off other models), but it’s obviously cosmetic as well and does look good. As the fiberglass doesn’t appear to add much if any weight, then fine — it all works together in the pleasant way most Dynafit gear has become known for."

I can shove it in the carbon fiber housing and mount as-is, but I don't think it would be doing anything, if it ever did to begin with. There's already a metal wedge which comes from the under-side of the binding to hold the crampon in place, so it's not like I'd be putting any pressure on the plastic with crampons on, and I can't think of any other way I could possibly need/use this piece. Any advice?

EDIT: Pictures don't seem to be loading, see attachments

    Mount them, ski them.
Send a pic to dynafit and they will send you a new part with no questions asked.
You probably don't even have to send a pic. They are very good about sending out free parts.

They'll ski fine. I've hacked off all my Comforts plates at the same spot because I prefer Voile fixed crampons. If you want to use Dynafit hinged crampons, then you'll need a new plate, of course.

Salewa in Colorado sent out two new plates, no questions asked, as advertised. Very nice and helpful people.
