More Dopers-1 Roadie and 1 Dirt
Since there has been some recent discussion on doping due to the Tour, and the Lance and Simeonie feud, here are two more that have just come up. Adam Bergman from Team Jelly Belly and Filip Meirhaeghe Belgian MTBer:
Meirhaeghe positive, stops immediately
Bergman sacked by Jelly Belly, may lose NRC points
These are fairly prominent riders in their respective scenes. Todd Wells, who competes in the World Cup and is headed to the Olympics, had a pretty heated reaction to the Meirhaeghe bust on his website. It's pretty sad that these guys feel they have to resort to doping, but apparently the pressure to succeed drives them to it. At least they got busted.

There's a big difference between Professional riders like those in the TDF and up and coming riders looking at the Olympics: Money.
Call me nuts, but with the TDF, it seems the fox is watching the hen house. I compare EPO in the TDF with Steroids in the NFL.
Who was the last football player to be busted for steroids? I remember the Boz, then I remember the avg. weight of linemen going up by some 40-50 lbs. over the following decade. Oddly, few if any were busted during that stint of weight gain.
The way I see it, the NFL stood to gain nothing by busting its athletes. So what is their motivation to do so? Seems the control in the NFL is mostly there for show.
I think the TDF is much the same. Sorry.
I like cycling, and especially the TDF, but I am resigned to the fact that it is a multi million dollar industry and thus influenced by whatever it takes to make that money.Ski, Bike, Climb.
Resistence is futile.

The more I follow different professional sports, the more I'm disgruntled by the amount of doping that goes on everywhere, I mean EVERYWHERE.
Seriously, what professional sport doesn't have doping? Even amateur sports. The Olympics will be one big dope-fest in Athens this year. It's to the point that there are now 2 groups of athletes--those that dope and those that haven't been caught yet. And as our medical technology advances, it's going to get even worse.
Maybe golf is clean. Although you would add a few yards to your drives, I guess...
