I'd think about going Intuition but I have sweaty feet as it is, a warmer liner and I'll need to ski in barefeet.
i have 8 days on mine. i am also worried about packing down. i got mine on shop form and think i may have been able to get a shell size down. my feet are long and narrow. the length is good on these, but i am afraid the width may pack down. i plan to get some shims or something put in there from our bootfitter if i start having to use the next buckle notch.

overall, i love the boot. it looks like a park/jib boot, but doesn't ski like one.
I sleep really well after working with p-tex in the evening. But, all the next day my eyelids and the skin between my thumbs and fingers twitch alot.

Can't say that I've noticed anything about the liner on this year's model after 20 days ... in fact, I mistakenly took two runs yesterday with the top buckle undone and didn't even feel much of a difference.

In the same boat as Khyber and NPG. I have, from last year and this year, around 60 days + 3 longer tours on mine and theyre still fine.

Ive never even thought the Ghost liner was much of a liner in terms of packing out. Pretty minimal, in my experience, to begin with.

I’d first look at getting an aftermarket orthotic if you haven’t yet. They’ll take care of the sloppiness and get the boots to perform way better than without – plus get a little more mileage out of your stock liners. If you haven’t talked to a boot fitter yet, start there. You might pm "mtnlion" - he is an excellent fitter in this forum & has a lot of experience with Salomon boots and could answer questions. But, find a reputable fitter in your area. Talk to the technician guys/gals who work in the shop – ask who they use/have used etc – you should be able to find one from there.

PS: as far as stock liners go, these are BY FAR better than anything I have skied in previously! I think I have around 40 or so days in mine and they still feel about the same. I did replace them this season with Zip-Fits but I think they still have decent life left in them.

I am 6'4", 205 lbs, expert aggressive skier on 194 XXL's in Revelstoke. Is this boot going to be stiff enough for me and this ski in particular?

It does fit, nicely. But I am worried that it wont be stiff enough. Since I have gotten these new skis, I have realized that I need a stiffer boot. After just a few days skiing my 194 XXL's, my Dalbello Protons have turned to mush, and the plastic is tearing under the tongue on both boots. This is only after 2 full seasons, just starting the third on these boots.
Christ, I got probably 600+ days out of my old yellow Lange Tii's. Then I got a pair of Salomons, lasted a few years, then these Dalbello's, 2 years. Damn, when I was getting gear given to me no problem, but these new boots (not Salomons in particular) are freakin expensive, and I feel they should last well more than 2 seasons........

I'm looking for something to replace my Nordica Supercharger Enforcers. The liners are packed out and they're a bit soft for me really.

I've seen a few boot fitters in town in the last few days. I tried on the Atomic hawx 120, the Nordica Hot Rod 125, Salomon Shogun, and the Head raptor 150. Hawx seemed too wide in the forefoot, and a bit soft. Hot rod didn't even feel any where near a 125 flex boot. Raptor..... well its the raptor, overkill really.

The shogun felt pretty dam close. Is the ghost just a stiffer shogun. The boot guy said that the shogun was wider, not true from what i've researched online. If the ghost a stiff shogun I think i'm pretty much sold.

Also, any changes to the Ghost for next winter?

Alka goes over the changes to the Ghost for this year a few pages ago, but basically it gets a newer better plastic (same as X3 i think) and custom shell for the forefoot. So no it is not just a stiffer Shogun, it is also narrower, however it can be made wider.

If the Enforcer/Hot rod shell worked for you, but the flex did not, try the Doberman Pro 130. Same last, but feels much stiffer. Everybody at the manufacturer will tell you that the translucent plastic is no different than the solid black in terms of flex. Hogwash. The Dobie Pro skis MUCH stiffer and more consistent flexing across temp ranges than its translucent brethren. My $.02

The shell worked ok. I had a little work done on it. But i'd quite like to try a different shell as i think something else would work better. Not good enough heel hold.

I have a pair of falcon guns from the first year they were out. Love the fit, perhaps a touch soft and they're getting pretty beat. My intuitions are also shot.

Anytime I ever try on a salomon boot with the stock liner, the pads around the achilles squeeze the soft spot between the ankle bone and the tendon... it literally makes me nauseous. I've run my falcon's with Nordica liners and intuitions and was fine with both.

It seems like the liner is pretty integral to the ghost, but when I tried them on, that feeling was back.
    Anything that can be done?
    Will that area pack out?
I couldn't even take a walking step, just standing up it felt like I was kicked in the balls... only in the back of my ankle.

Ouch dude, that sounds awful. Maybe try a different company?

I vaguely tried to put the Intuition Plugs from my Sally (old red 98mm race boot, forgot name) into my same size Ghosts and it didn't work at all.

Speaking for Euro 09/10 models only... The Shogun liner is way nicer than the Ghost's one, despite what Cody T told me himself. Shogun has the CF Race and the Ghost has the Performance one. I've tried the 08/09 and 09/10 Ghosts on a few time and the liner just feels cheap to me to handle and to wear. I found a good price on some 09/10 Shoguns recently and they seem to fit the same as my old Falcon Gun/Falcon race; pretty much the same as the Ghost but better hold especially on my girly heels from the firmer liner.

The Shogun feels a little soft but it looks like there's a flat section to add another bolt in the centre of the spine a little higher than the two that are there already. And I'm still not convinced about the whole 2 buckle thing, and planning on ripping the top two buckles off my old Falcons to transplant onto my Shoguns mid-winter if needed - looks like they'll swap over if the stock buckle and plate are drilled out from the Shogun. I've got a really slim calf and the shin doesn't feel quite right but will ski it first. Also on previous Falcons I've had I've cut notches in the top of the cuff to allow a Booster to run under the plastic but I'm not sure about doing that when there's only one buckle there. Anyone done any of the aforementioned mods to a Ghost/Shogun?

Anyway in terms of heel hold I love the Falcon shape, this will be my third pair.

I know what you mean and that feels really good on my heel, I've never felt locked-in in that area in anything but a Falcon.

Easy fix for you if you want to try it: mold them with some sort of foam pads taped to you bare foot under your sock to push them out a bit.

Potentially, I wasn't sure how much I could get that area to compress. The shell and everywhere else fits my foot phenomenally, just that one pesky area has been enough to steer clear.
I really want to like these boots because I liked my falcon's so much.

if the boot fits well, with another liner, odds are good that the stock liner will pack out the same as the used/other one. If not it is simple to compress the liner foam and make it flatter too..

So a bit of a jong question here, but I've got a chance to pick up a pair that was used one day for pretty cheap. Unfortunately the guy baked the liners. Can I rebake these or is there anything I can do to get them to work for me or should I just pass on them. Thanks.

^^ Yes, you can rebake the liners. This can only be done a few times, so be sure to do it right. But if they've only been baked once, and the price is right, it's a good deal.

Don't forget to do a shell fit!!

Yeah, I'm not going to bake them until I do a shell fit, but I know falcons fit my foot well. If they're not good, you could be seeing them over on here in a couple weeks.

Anyone want to take a guess on the stiffness of these vs. the Rossi B-Squad Carbon 130s (my current boot)? I like how stiff my Rossi's ski + the aggressive cuff angle + the high cuff. I'm wondering how these compare on performance.
