Underhanded, no good, low down guy
anybody know anything about pre-paid cell phones?
I want a cell phone that is not connected to me, my name, a credit card, or anything else Cletus related, which I can use for various nefarious purposes. Various Nefarious. I like that.
How do I do this?

Pay phone is the way to go if you don't want the calls to be linked back to you.
Since it sounds like you want to get someone good over the phone, allow me to offer this somewhat related story. I know of this guy who is a real shithead to just about everyone he comes in contact with. Recently, a female has been calling everyone he knows (people he works with, his family, neighbors) saying he owes her money for sex and she's going to keep calling everyone until he pays up. I have no idea if this is a prank, or he really digs the hookers and one he stiffed stole his cell phone and got all these people's numbers. She's been calling from a pay phone and now this dude that's supposedly her pimp is calling people. The messages are a riot. If it's a prank, it's working great, since everyone she calls is pretty much buying it. If not, and he's even more of a sleaze then everyone thoguht; now that's karma catching up with you big time. Now Mr. Hardass is a big joke, everyone thinks he's even more of a piece of shit then before, and his wife will always wonder, no matter how much he denies it. No threats were made and no laws were broken, so the police aren't gonna do anything.
Anyway, I'm not recomending anything by this, just thought I'd share a little story.Last edited by Huck Finn; 07-27-2004 at 05:35 PM.

07-27-2004, 06:16 PM #14yeah, ATT does it as does T-Mobile and a few others. I think I'm going with one of them, I just don't know if I can do it totally incognito or not. Cash payment, check, and fake name, maybe.Originally posted by Stikki

i've had a boost mobile phone for about two years. $.25 a minute, you can buy minutes at 7-11, and it's got a radio so you can walk around pretending to be important.fine

Just get the Vaseline out and get ready. My girlfreind is on AT&T prepay. It boils down to about 75 cents a min maybe a little cheaper maybe a little more depending on how big the phone card is. Watch the ads because if you buy a 30 dollar phone card you get 20 free mins a month on your phone or other cool deals like that.

I got a prepaid TracPhone last year back in Michigan. Worst purchase ever. Activation took me a week, and even then I was roaming (5 units/minute) all around town which I was told to be in my "home" - e.g. non roaming area. Took the thing back to Best Buy to get my money back. Only got the $40 for the phone itself back. They wouldn't refund the 120 minute card I bought with it. On top of that, I finally got removed from their email list last month after yelling to costomer service reps too numerous to count.

Heya,
I've had a prepaid phone thingy-dingy for two years, and it works perfectly for my needs. You can buy the phone/initial minutes (using cash) at convenience stores, etc. You can buy refill card using cash as well. I don't really remember what info I had to give when activating it, but I think you could lie past anything personal.
Now, I'm not using mine for nefarious purposes, but am using it as an emergency-type phone. Ends up costing me about $7/month, no service contract. More, of course, if I yap a lot.
It's done fine by me travelling locally and in some other states. Sure, you pay more per minute than a contract plan, but the true cost of ownership is far less. Plus, no customer disservice reps to deal with.
Cletus, mine is an ATT prepaid phone. The phone itself is a clunky piece of dung, but who cares?
Hope this helps...

You can go to any Walmart, Kmart, Hills, Walgreens etc. Nokia sells a phone that you can purchase time cards with. Pay cash. It is untracable.Originally posted by Yossarian
